"Ron Davidson joins Sipco Oil Company In May of 1978 the indiv- idual expertise of five indep- endent oil companies was amalgamated to form a combined effort known as Sipco Oil Limited. These companies have been engaged in the petro- leum business for as long as 22 years. Consistant with the ever-changing oil market- place the new company responded tothe needs -by becoming an integrated oil company. In Port Perry, Ron David- son joined the Sipco company last July and opened a branch here in October. Since then they have been pumping 280,000 gallons of fuel oil per month in the Scugog area. But nationally, Sipco's sales have spiralled to 245,000 gallons per day. To fulfill 175,000 gallons of that requirement, they became a crude oil purchaser from Petrocan originally and subsequently the Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission. Sipco is the largest privately-owned, wholly Canadian independent oil company.in Eastern Canada, supplying approximately 15,000 residences and 62 retail stations. Branches are located in Port Perry, Oshawa, Hamilton, New- market and Delhi. I'm your local Alcan Authorized Dealer. Call me for a free quote on installing Alcan aluminum siding. Mr. Baxter said these details will be worked out when the school gets in the final approval from the Board of Education. He suggested that if enrol- ments increase after the first year, the "wheels will be put in motion" in September,' 1982 to secure capital funding from the Ministry of. Education for construction of a permanent school building that could open for the fall of 1983. There are about six acres of land behind the church owned by the Toronto Diocese which could be used for a new building, said Mr. Baxter. . He said that the 119 children already registered - for classes this fall come mainly from the Port Perry and Blackstock areas, and most other areas within the Township. - The Board of Education guarantees that any student living more than a mile from the school will be bussed. PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed., March 11, 1981 -- 9 Separate school may open The idea for a separate school in Port Perry was first discussed seriously late last fall and received strong support from Father Ray- makers and the Parish council. Mr. Baxter said that in years gone by there had been a couple of informal surveys carried out to determine if there would be support for a school, but they never went beyond that stage. If the Board gives its approval March 17 as Mr. Baxter expects, he says there are plans to hold an information night for parents some time in May which will give them an opportunity to discuss the matter fully with teachers, consultants and Separate School Board Administration staff. The 119 registered students in the Jr. Kinder- garten to Grade 8 classes as of March 2 break down this way:12 in junior kinder- garten and nine in senior kindergarten, to be one class; 16 in Grade 1; 14 in Grade 2; 10 in Grade 3; 13 in Grade 4, 13 in Grade 5, nine in Grade 6, 14 in Grade 7 and seven in Grade 8. ~ Help keep the promise of Ontario.
