Atoms hang fough with fwo victories by Bob Jamieson The Port Perry Malmont Farms Atoms came up with two big wins on Saturday and Sunday defeating Bowman- ville 5-1 and Markham 1-0. On Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Bowmanville it was a must win in order to keep pace with Uxbridge. Our boys knew the impor- tance of the game and came out flying. It was a complete team effort, good solid back 'checking as well as precision passing and good positional play. a The first goal of the game came from a face-off pass from Steve Connors to Scott Feasby. "Scoot" made no mistake and sent it high up in the top corner. Five minutes later John Lally fed a pass back to "Scoot" Feasby and sent this puck into the net also. The next goal was scored by Warren Geer assisted by Brad Menzies. John Lally scored the next goal assisted by Robbie Brown and Warren Geer. " The final goal of the game 'came at 2:38 remaining. Robbie Jamieson fed a pass to John Lally who in turn gave it to Brad Menzies who placed the puck neatly SMITH-CORONA TYPEWRITERS Manual or Electric PORT PERRY STAR 235 Queen Street 985-7383 into the net. Final score and a big win 5-1. The big game against Markham Sunday March 15, 1981 was a real treat. We were hoping for a tie and came out with a big 1-0 victory. The boys played an extremely good game for the second day in a row. To pick up 2 points in Markham was too-much to ask for. It was like a dream come true. . We scored the only goat at the 3:47 mark of the second period. Brad Menzies did a lot of hard work to get the pass over to Steve Connors who gave it to John Lally who neatly put the puck in the net. The score at 1-0 for Port Perry really flattened Markham because we had so many chances and came up empty. Stacey Ballingall came up with some breath-taking saves which makes all the difference when you play a Double "A" team like Markham. We have two games left in "the round robin series. One victory is all that is required to win over Uxbridge. We play Markham Friday night at 8:00 p.m. and Stouffville Sunday March 22nd at 1:00 p.m. . Your support is needed for us to advance to the playoffs. See everyone Friday night at 8:00 p.m. Also a special get well message to Val Menzies from all the guys on the Green Machine. a 3 CHES, ALL TYPES - ALL MAKES | PHILIPS MoRuLARs STEREOS & HI-FI'S 723-5341 Serving The Port Perry Area ~~ 214 BLOORE.
