Church service this coming week willbe at Epson at 11:30 a.m. The U.C.W. have a busy time coming up, catering at the auction sale for Utica Farm Equipment on March 28th and having a Beef supper on April 9th. Winners at Friday's euchre were - Ladies 1st Nerta Masters, 2nd Anne Wallace and low to Eva Steniford. Mens 1st Blanche Tindall, 2nd to M. Gall and low to Ross Snoddon. Freeze- out winners were Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Luke 1st and Martin Gall and Blanche Tindall 2nd. There will be another euchre in two weeks. There will be a dance in the hall on March 28th. Mr. and Mrs. Hillis Wilbur and Lee attended the Pee Wee Hockey Tournament in Wellington on the weekend, staying in Picton. Mr. and Mrs. George Harper visited with Mr. Ross Smalley and family at Sandford on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Aileen Rogers of Bowmanville called on the Harpers Sunday -evening. Belated birthday greetings to Miss Charlotte Luke who is four and brother George who is six years old. Charlotte and George had a few of their friends in a week ago to celebrate their birthdays. . Mrs. Walter Wright spent a week in Hamilton visiting her daughter Elaine Young and her husband and other relatives there. Congratulations to Keith and Wilma Van Camp on becoming grandparents for the first time this week. Their eldest daughter Cindy and Dennis Werry presented them with a grandson John William. Mrs. Wilbur Toms and Mrs. Harold McLaughlin spent last Tuesday in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Dorrell of Charlton were in the city for the day. While Stuart was attending a meeting, Helen enjoyed a visit with her mother and sister. On Wednesday morning Helen and Stuart were setting out for a holiday in Florida. Clarence Masters - 74; 6. Elwood Tripp - 74; Low - Effel Forder. 50-50 Draw - Ella Venning. The fourth 4-H meeting of the Blackstock Club No. 1 was held at Mrs. Kyte's home from 3:45 to 5:30. The main topic was on the ingredients and nutrients of an egg. The leaders demon- strated how to separate the yolk fom the egg white. After making their egg recipes ('""Top Hat' souffle and "Rice Pilaff"), the girls sat down and sampled these dishes. -- Linda Sutton Several trom Blackstock participated in the Manvers Curling Bonspiel. Nancy and Gary McConnell, Roy and Edith McLaughlin, Neil and Noreen Malcolm all enjoyed their day. Flora Samells, Secretary for the Blackstock U.C.W. reports. that the afternoon unit was held at the Manse on Tuesday, March 10 at 1:15 p.m. Mrs. Ruby Parsons was hostess and served a delic- ious dessert with tea and coffee. The meeting began with the leader Mrs. Murray Byers reading a poem. Mrs. Glenn Larmer showed a film on "missionary work and a discussion was held. Mrs. John Kristensen had the worship beginning with the hymn "Will Your Anchor Hold?' The scripture reading was Romans: 8, followed by a worth while commentary. The minutes were read and approved, the offering was received and dedicated. The roll call was answered with a worthwhile work saving device in my kitchen. The business consisted of planning two banquets. It was announced that Presby- terial will be held on March 18 in Centennial Church, Oshawa. The meeting closed with prayer. Blackstock Nursery School News J. Pashley, Secretary reports that the monthly meeting was held at the Rec Centre on Tuesday, March 10 at 8:00 p.m., financial report was given and'it seems they All are have done quite well from the Valentine Dance and from catering to the Lions Dinner meeting. The nursery school will be catering to the next Lions' supper on April 8th. Class pictures will be taken again this year by Beth Scryhurt. We were so pleased with last year's pictures that we are glad she will do them again. During the March Break (23-27), there will be no nursery school classes but they will resume as usual the following week. Mr. David Pashley will be the Nursery School representative to the Recreational Board. Class Field Trips are being planned for April so please keep checking --at the Nursery School for the times and classes involved. Kathy White's lambs are foaling soon so the children will be taken to their farm after the school break. Plans are being made once again for a graduation party for the four year olds at the end of the school year. At the March meeting a slate of nominees is presented for the next year's executive. At the April meeting they are voted upon. So they hope to have a good: supportive turnout at the next Nursery School meeting on Tuesday, April 14th at 8:00 p.m. Blackstock Minor Hockey News by Doug Allen On Tuesday night March 10th, the O.M.H.A. Execu-' tive, Mr. Ed Grimshaw, head of North Eastern Ontario and Sharon Griffien of Lindsay, Convenor for Northern Ontario and Ken Griffin Head of Referees visited the Blackstock Arena for its inspection of the arena so that the Minor Hockey Boys and Girls can play organized O.M.H.A. hockey in the 1981-1982 season. Our executive was in attendance also Jack Hall President, myself Doug Allen organizer and Lynn Muziks Segretary-Treasurer and Bob Strong Arena Manager, and John Goss Arena Chairman. Mr. Grimshaw noted that the arena was kept in very clean condition for a country arena. They noted though that we have to have the following for next year. Electronic Time and Penalty Clock, Dressing room for the Official Referee and all hockey lines properly identifying on the hockey surface. Goalie nets will have to be properly affixed to the ice. We are badly in need of two extra dressing rooms but we do not know of a possible way this can be done. - Blackstock is being recognized as a O.M.HA. carded organization for the 1981-1982 season. We will be carding all the boys in Novice, Atom, Pee Wee, Bantam, and: Midget division. We would like to thank the 0.M.H.A., Mr. Ed Grinshaw, Sharon Griffin, and Ken Griffin for coming to approve us for 1981-1982 season. We would like to thank Jack Hall for asking the O.M.H.A. back to his house for more discussion about the rules and regulations. Also on Wednesday, March 11, the Blackstock Minor Hockey Association had an executive meeting in which many good things resulted. Jack Hall, Doug Allen, Lynn Musiziks, Sharon Stapleton, Joe Locke, Frank Tobin attended. Results: Sharon Stapleton will be our contact lady for 1981-1982 season.
