Toronto, spent a few days recently with her grand- mother Mrs. Kenneth Samells, On Thursday, April 2nd, the Blackstock I and II 4-H groups met together at the Blackstock Rec Centre for their last meeting. After all the girls and their leaders gathered the party started. On the menu were three chicken dishes, chocolate mousse, two salads, cheese, buns, meatballs, cream puffs, juice and fruit (apples, oranges, blueberries). After supper and clean-up they played egg gamon which is an egg game. Then after a few games, plans were made for Achievement Day which 'will be held on Friday evening, April 24th in the Blackstock Rec Centre. . Mrs. Reta Berrill of Bow- manville spent the weekend with her sister Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Gibson and Eleanor.- The Port Perry Oldtimers Hockey Team spent from Thursday to Sunday at a Hockey Tournament at Lake Placid, New York. They won the Silver Medal in Division £,35+. Mr..and Mrs. Frank Robin and 'Mr. and Mrs. David Menzies from Blackstock enjoyed this wekend. + Lo - Reverend and Mrs. J.C. Hill of Columbus, Mrs. Florence Hill and Miss Ruby Beare of Hillsdale Manor, Whitby were Friday noon dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold McLaughlin and Mrs. Wilbur Toms. The April meeting of the A.C.W. will take place on Thursday, April 16th in the Parish Hall. Reverend R. Rose will lead a Lenten Bible study and there will be a Holy Communion. All welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Frank, Pat, Darren and Shannon of Columbus were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelly and - family. At -the weekly senior citizens' card party there John were20 tables with the following winners: 1. Sid Brown - 89; 2. Vera Fawns - 82; 3. Belle Werry - 80; 4. Adam Sharpe - 80; 5. The annual awards banquet for the all leagues of the Blackstock Curling Club was held on Wednesday evening at the Rec Centre. "After singing Grace and the Toast to the Queen, over one hundred curlers and their escorts (many of whom were also curlers) enjoyed a delicious chicken dinner catered by the A.C.W. President Ken Crawford welcomed all and briefly reviewed the past very successful season. Ted Kemp gave the customary thanks to the ladies. Lynn McLaughlin accompanied by her mother favoured with two beautiful vocal solos. Ken congratulated Nancy and Dave Barr, Don and Louise Swaitr™on obtaining the very rare event - an eight ender on the last night of curling. After the acceptance of the minutes and the treasurer's report that was presented by Gerald Kelly, the slate officers for next season was given as follows: Past . President - Ken Crawford; President - Ted Kemp; Vice President - Neil McLaughlin Secretary-Treasurer - Gerald and Joyce Kelly; Schedule Manager - Cameron Porter. Donations had been made by Stedman's, Eleanors Flowers both of Port Perry, Swain's Seeds, L.0.L. Purple Hill, D. and J. Packers, Asselstines Yamaha, Floyd Argue and Ken Crawford. These were drawn for during the evening with . the following lucky winners Harold McLaughlin, Harold Luke, Denzil Moore, Pat Fletcher, Wendy Bently, Eileen McLaughlin, Sharon Wilson, Andrew Petrie, George Wilson, Linda Hughes, Dalton Dorrell, Marg Kemp, Dale Van .Camp, Ron Vice and Reg Hughes. A huge rib roast that had kindly been donated by Canadian Dressed Meats Limited, Toronto was raffled off with Ernie Swain the lucky winner. Lorna Edgerton, President of the Ladies' League thanked many for their help throughout the season. Pat Fletcher, Wendy Bently, Linda Maw and Chris Cliff stood in third . place while Joan Graham, Edith McLaughlin, Evelyn Trapp and Sue Fallis stood in fourth place. Fifth place was taken by Helen Green, Lisa Philips, Josie Hamilton and Gloria McLaren. Nancy McConnell presented the Mixed League report. The competition was very keen here as well with - = the last night deciding the top six places. The High School Team of - Brian Dalton, Leanne Van Camp, Howard Bailey and Melanie Williams won the trophy and the prizes that had been donated by Bill and Sandra Thompson of Thompson's Market. Ip second place were Harold and Eileen McLaughlin, Neil and Kathy McLaughlin with Keith and Wilma Van Camp, Pat Fletcher and Tena VanRyswyk winning the third place prizes. Lynn McLaughlin delighted everyone with another solo. - Floyd Argue, Schedule Manager for the Men's League announced that the top men's team was Harold McLaughlin, Ted Kemp, Herb Vine, Robert Archer, Dave Frew. Merlin Suggitt presented his trophy to this rink. Second place, very close behind was the rink of Howard Bailey, Brian Dalton, John Green and Tim Cochrane, Third. place. was taken by Dale Van Camp, - Cameron Porter, Earl Hartly and Cliff Davis. - The Men's Bonspiel Trophy was presented by Cameron Porter to Gerald Kelly, Merrill Van Camp, Jim Byers and Andrew Petrie.
