Port Perry had to scratch all the way for the champion: ship, which it won 4-3 in overtime, winning all three of its games by one goal margins. They beat Calvary Baptists of Oshawa 3-2 in the opener, and then outlasted Wallace Memorial. by the same score in the following fray. They tied Evangel Pentacostal 5-5 in the last round-robin game, Port was led offensively by the high scoring trio of wingers Dave and John Michel and centerman Dave Harris. Sandy Kiezebrink and Tom Perrigoe supplied solid backline support as they paired on defence. Port played the whole day with two lines and two defence pairings and played these five as a platoon. They controlled play fluidly while this unit was on the ice but all the games took an obvious turn for the worse when the second unit played. That's precisely what this Port Perry entry lacked from championship teams from past years. With only ten skaters, they did not have the bench strength and balanced scoring which it had with larger teams.
