With familiar stage prescence, knowing nods and smiles between soloist and her accompanist, she and Mr. Hamilton frequently provided brief translations of the pieces throughout the concert. Indeed, the audience was notably captivated by her charm as she skilfully spun a musical web around every heart in the place. Miss Forrester's voice was a flawless instrument, clear, powerful, colourful, warm and haunting, singing so confidently the German lieder and the French art songs for which she is well renowned. Yet her listeners were held absolutely spell- bound as well by her emotional rendering of "The Confession Stone," a remarkably unfamiliar work by the late Robert Fleming. There was hardly a dry eye anywhere while she bestowed her special kind of reverence on the portion with the long-sustained, meaningful "Paradise." It was a thrilling moment. A highlight of the program was her performance of "Seven Popular Spanish Songs' of Manuel de Falla in » Shich Miss Forrester, with all the experience of her operatic career, quickened the moods of a sultry Andalusia.
