Ashburn news An interesting and fun'. evening was spent at the Brooklin Horticulture Meet- int last Wed. evening when the Annual Daffodil show and plant sale was held. Kern Brown of Ashburn was the Auctioneer and everyone enjoyed his humour as well as some good tips on how to take care of plants. The craft show under the Auspices of the Kirk guild was a success, about a dozen long tables of different crafts were displayed featuring beautiful stained glass work, wood work, pottery, chair caneing, crochet and wool work and others. This was a first attempt and much credit is due to the social convenor and her committee. Sunday- at Burns church was commemoration day the 13th Anniversary of the new church. An there was a good number out for the morning service. Rev. McEntyre welcomed our two special guests Mrs. John Geddes of Taiwan and Miss Doreen Morrison of India who spoke . of their work on mission fields. Mrs. Geddes also spoke to the church school at 10 am. The Jr choir sang a medley entitled - Jesus is Lord and four girls Misses Kerri Death, Julie Emm, Elaine Knight and Diane Lehman sang, Christ is My Rock. In the evening there was an informal service with the . missionaries Mr. and Mrs. John Geddes and Miss Doreen Morrison when they told about the political situ- ations of the countries and how it effected mission work there and Mr. Geddes show- ed beautiful slides of Taiwan. After the morning service the Kirk Guild served a delicious brunch of chicken crepes, salads and home made pies. This was much appreciated by everyone, and a happy friendly time was experienced.
