Greetings and remarks were given by Mrs. Yvonne Christie - Scugog Trustee; The Durham Board of Education, Mrs. Marion Murray, Chairperson, School Advisory Committee; Mr. Gordon Taylor - Vice Princi- pal of R.H. Cornish; and Mr. Murray Prentice - Principal of R.H. Cornish. Some 200 graduating students, their parents, friends and relatives filled the auditorium to capacity. Each graduate received a diploma and special awards were presented. The special awards were as follows: Thelma Beare award for Home Economics - presented by Mrs. J. Lock to Linda Chow. Industrial Arts award - presented by Mr. A. Ingram to David Kemp. The evening was rounded out by some most enjoyable songs sung to the graduates with guitar accompaniment by Mrs. Avis Miller. i . Police lay two charges A Toronto man has been charged by police with operating a vehicle while impaired and common assault against a police officer following an incident June 21 on the Scugog Island Road. A police spokesman said that a van driven by Lee John Milton, 29, of Toronto, hit a tree at the north end of the Island Road about 12:30 Saturday morning, causing about $4,000 damage to the van. Milton was taken by police to Headquarters in Oshawa, --MASTERFEEDS z and allegedly struck an officer in the face while under-going a breathalyzer test.
