Fortunately the weather has started to live up to expecta- tions and hopefully we now have begun a happy, healthy and safe summer. On Sunday, the Seagrave Sunday School picnic was held beginning with a re- laxed and jovial service in the church. Rev. Roundell gave a message on the beauty and goodness that surrounds us. Mrs. Joan Lee who has now completed 20 years as a church organist, led the congregation in the singing of favourite hymns. Joan was ably assisted by Mrs. Fern Tobin at the piano, Mrs. Jessie Nobbs and Mrs. Fred Puckrin on har- monicas and Mrs. Barbara Ward at the accordian. Mrs. Sharon Twiner contributed to the birthday box. The congregation then adjourned to the Seagrave Community Park and participated in a very successful picnic. Mr. Irwin Smith played the accompaniment - for the group which received an overwhelming reception. the members of this talented group are as follows: soprano Heather Kellington and Joan Lee, alto Pat Fisher and Jan Towns, tenor Bert Hutcheon and Bruce Kellington, bass Roger Boyle and Bert DeJeet. Mrs. Joan Lee is the participating director and as such, as in everything Joan tackles, she does a superlative job. Our community is very fortunate in having Joan in our midst. She is not only organ and choir director at the Sea- grave church and instrum- ental and-or vocal instructor to many of us in the area, but Joan unhesitatingly gives freely of her time when asked to assist with any meaningful endeavour. The Good Neighbours' Club held a traveling supper on Saturday. A delicious barbecue was held at the home of Frank and Bonnie Branton and this was follow- ed by dessert and entertain- ment at the home of Bob and Sheila Sears. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the superb food and the enter- tainment program. High- lights of the latter were a race between the men and the ladies to put up a tent then pack it away and a spontaneous chorus line by the six members of the men's team. A few in the audience fully expected to see the heaving floor give way as the six enthusiastic dancers pounded their way through their routine. Please give Jackie Boyle a call at 985-3941 .
