About 150 young ball players marched to the Fowler Park from the high school. According to PPDMSA Following the Midget- Juvenile confrontation the Port Perry Minor Ball execs beat the Firefighters 29-9 in a seven inning Lob Ball game. Earlier there were two squirt house league games and a T-Ball contest. The large crowd stayed for the first game but filtered out remony i _ | he § AL 3 A after it. Other celebrities on hand included Scugog Mayor Jerry Taylor and Wendy Bracken and Kelly Owen, Queen and Princess of the high school's At Home Dance this past spring. At the Joe Fowler Memorial Park Mayor Taylor stepped in to bat against Bill Mark , Port Perry's most loyal ball fan, who threw the ceremonial "first pitch." The turnout was consider- ably larger than last year's but that was due mainly to good weather. A year ago the day was gloomy and cold. "Basically," said Mr. Cooper, "I think everything went A-OK". Earlier in the conversation he said, "I think it went very well." This year's route was dif- ferent from 1979 because of the Queen Street construc- tion. Last year they went down Queen Street all the way to Water Street and then down to the Lakeshore diamond. The highlight of the post ceremony games was the Port Perry Malmont Farms midgets 7-2 win over the Port Perry Mother's Pizza Juve- nile team. The game marked the second time that the midgets have upset their '"'cross-town rivals." They did it once earlier in the first pre-season game for both teams. "I think | can hit that gosh-darn ball if | keep my eye on it and really concentrate." Ricky Olaisen was %' one of many who took part in the enjoyable T-ball exhibition games. = -- ) Se 2 Rn eon A pam So NAN Ae ha Bill Mark, a long-time and loyal softball fan in Port Perry, had the honour of throwing out the ceremonial "first pitch." a tn tra 2 eA -- At Home Queen Wendy Bracken and Princess Kelly Owen accompanied Scugog Mayor Jerry Taylor in a convertible.
