At the time of writing the extent of injury is not known but she underwent emergency surgery in Oshawa Hospital Sunday evening. Her many friends hope for a complete recovery as soon as possible. Henry Wotten is showing improvement in Oshawa Hospital where he will be confined for a considerable time. Also in hospital are Mrs, Frank Bailey, Mrs. Dora Suggitt and John Lawrence. Life in this area has been going so fast recently that most people have to try to be . at least two places at a time to honour all of their commitments. Already this situation seems true for next Sunday for many families as the United Church Sunday School Picnic is planned for Sunday. afternoon at 2 p.m. at Cartwright Park, weather permitting. Decoration Services for the Union Cemetery will be held at 2:30 also Sunday afternoon with Rev. F. Swann as 'the speaker. Many from here attended Brooklin Spring Fair and Tractor Pull over the week- end in various capacities. From all aspects it was a very successful event. On Saturday the annual Canoe the Nonquon was held and once again many local resi- dents participated in it. On Friday evening the Anglican Spring supper was a huge success in every way. The ladies of the A.C.W. would like to thank all those who supported this effort. On Saturday morning a bridal shower was held at the home of Mrs. Ivan Thompson in honour of the bride-to-be Janet Turner. After the many lovely gifts were opened, Janet replied fittingly. The hostess served a dainty lunch and a social tithe was enjoyed. On Saturday evening a large crowd of friends and relatives of Keith and Wilma VanCamp attended their dance at the Rec Centre in honour- of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Con- gratulations and best wishés for many more years of happiness together. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Dorrell, Darcy, Melody and Lisa of Charlton spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harold McLaughlin and Kelly and Mrs. W. Toms. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Atfield of Toronto were weekend guests of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Merrill VanCamp, Dale and Valerie and attend- .ed the VanCamp party and other activities in the community. Roller skating is becoming a popular sport at the local arena on Monday and Thursday evenings. On Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs, Jim Jamieson and family held a birthday party in honour , of Audrey's mother" Mrs. Lulu Hartin's eightieth birthday, at the Oddfellow's Hall, Port Perry. Heartiest congratu- lations, Mrs. Hartin. On Sunday morning the Sunday School Anniversary was held at the United Church. Superintendent Mrs. Donna Kyte conducted the service. Scripture was read by Eleanor Kelly. The Primary Choir directed by Donna Kyte sang" three songs. A dialogue on Love was read by Brian VanCamp and Chris McConnell. Three numbers were sung by the Junior Choir directed by Lois VanCamp. Mrs. Joan Grove accompanied both choirs. - The guest speaker was Mr. Lloyd Wilson of Uxbridge who brought several magic tricks and a meaningful address interspersed by many personal anadotes. Flowers in the church were placed by Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kemp, Jeffrey and David in memory of Mr. Jack VanCamp. Usherettes were Karen Kyte and Joy Werry. The offering was taken by Jeff Byers, Glenn Degeer, Jamie Bouillon and Jason Kyte. Elizabeth Kelly was a weekend guest of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson, Cheryl and Barbara of Aurora. She and Cheryl met last summer on their trip to England together. On Sunday morn- ing, Cheryl and Elizabeth enjoyed a plane ride with Mr. Thompson and toured this area. Mr. and Mrs. John Carnaghan and Murray spent the weekend in Sarnia with their son Jim and Janet Carnaghan, on Saturday evening they had a tour of the Observer where Jim is the editor and a drive through the town to see the "end of the pipe line, many of the oil refineries and the Blue Water bridge to pout Huron. On Sunday al attended the christening of Valerie Ann Carnaghan in Grace United Church. On Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson enjoyed a visit from Mr. Thompson's two sisters, Mrs. Vera Warmington and Mrs. Alba Currie of Beaverton. Sunday afternoon guests were Mrs. Ivan Thompson and Blaine of Cannington. On Sunday, June 7 at the Prince -Albert Community Hall the Port Perry Pee Wee "B'. Hockey Team members were honoured with a pot luck supper. This team won the All Ontario Championship in the C. C., Division. The boys each received jackets from George Stone, the sponsor, a plaque from the O.M.H.A. and a certificate of achieve- ment from the Provincial government. Members of this team from this commu- nity were Boyd Vanderheul, Kevin Cearns, Brian Dean and Bob Goble, Heartiest congratulations. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Russell Larmer held a family gathering. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Don Larmer, Peterborough, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gibson, Bowmanville, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gibson, Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Larmer and family, Barrie, Mrs. Lynn Pascoe, Allison and Jennifer who are home from Calgary visiting her parents and other relatives, Mr. and Mrs. John Murdock, Grand Bend, Miss Edna Larmer, Black- stock. Congratulations to Mrs. Kathleen Petrie who re- ceived her Ontario Diploma in- Horticulture specializing in Nursery Operations as a result of her independent Study Programme. On Tuesday, Kathleen and David and two sons, Andrew and Allan attended the Graduation Ceremonies and Banquet at Guelph Universi- ty. At the banquet Kathleen had the double honour of being top student in the second and third years of the' Nursery portion of the 0.G.H. programm. And to think that we thought that Kathleen just spent her - spare minutes in the winter curling. Congratulations on this great achievement. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Larmer and John attended the graduation ceremonies on Friday at the University of Guelph when Paul Larmer received his Bachelor of Science of Agriculture Degree.
