Local designs to highlight Fashion Show Looking for an elegant night out in Port Perry? Fashion Dram 81 may be just the thing. The three hour show to be held on two evenings - Sept- ember 14 and 17 - will feature nearly 100 different womens fashions, all designed and made by local artisans. Elegance is the theme of this show, and organizers have gone to great length to add those special "little touches" which create the mood and theme. A doorman will greet those attending and during the intermission 'waitresses in formal black and white uniforms will serve wine, hot hor d'oeurves and coffee, and there won't be a paper cup or plate in sight. Irwin Smith at the organ will add to the mood with - appropriate musical selections. Some of the local artisans whose creations will be on display include Paula Lish- man who has gained an international reputation for her knitted fur creations; Wendy Bateman and Dini Page, well known for their spinning and weaving; and Frances Solar who creates unique fashions on the loom. Kent Farndale will provide the commentary during the show, with Sandy Taylor acting as co-ordinator, and the fashions will be modelled by more than 20 ladies from Port Perry and area. Fashion Drama '81 is being sponsored by Friends of the Library with proceeds going to the new Scugog Library Building Fund. - The Show will be held each evening at Town Hall 1873 on Queen Street in Port Perry, and tickets are $10 person. That includes the refresh- ments. This will be a truly unique chance to see the fashion creations of several well known artisans in the Port Perry area, and enjoy a touch of elegance at the same time. For more information on how to get a ticket, phone 985-8416. But you'd better do it quickly as organizers are expecting a full house for each night.
