Port Juveniles get off to quick start by Don Hurst It's early in the season, so lets not get carried away over what has transpired in the early going on's in the Lakeshore hockey league's first week of play. But, lo and behold, the Emiel's Juveniles who're not expected to tear the league apart, won their season opener, at home (5-3). They tied Bay Ridges (Pickering H.A.) on Monday night (3-3). After playing two exhibi- tion games with Lindsay, winning (7-3) and tying them at home (3-3). Granted, we don't meet these two teams in the play- offs, but, it sure is a good feeling, you're holding your own. Even if its a great start in league play, it's nothing to get excited about. Port Juveniles started things off ' early, Scott RALPH TAYLORFUELS Serving this Area with Brand Name Products for 25 Years. ALL LINES OF GENERAL INSURANCE Wallace scoring at 14:09, Todd Healey and the whale (Big Pat) picking up assists. Geo McLeod brough Picker- ing right back, with the first of his two goals. Kevin Long along with Joe Williams and Pat Johnson, got Port going again. Pickering's, McLeod, got his second, tying the game at 2-2. Joe Williams, put the locals ahead again, with help from Pat Johnson and Scott Sandison. Todd Ford gave Pickering a 3-3 tie, to end the second period. Then in the third period, Port showed its class by over-powering the Bay Ridges crew. Scott Sandison put Port in front to stay, but Paul Storry made sure that they were going to win this one. Kevin Long helped out on Scotts goal. This was a strong skating game, and there's more to come. The line of Todd Healey, Scott. Wallace and Kevin Long all scored in Bay Ridges to earn a 3-3 tie. This was one of the better offensive and defensive games, in which a player could perform in - he should be very satisfied, in perform- ing in this standard. Last week, the Port Perry Juveniles, played the * Lindsay team in home and home games. Winning 7-3 in Lindsay and then 3-3 in Port on Thursday night. Goal scorers in these games were Todd Healey, Kevin Long, Todd Menzies, Scott Wallace and , Bob Horton. Big Pat Taylor picked up 5 assists. He has nine points, all assists, so far this season. This week, we play the Stouffville team on Thursday * night at 9:15 p.m. If the Juveniles gave you enter- tainment last year, then look for more of the same.
