The first was a pledge of $1,500 over three years by the newly formed Rotary Club of Port Perry. This donation represented the first community project 'by this new service club in Scugog Township. It is hoped that many more similar contributions will be made by this organization over coming years to other worth- while community projects. It was also disclosed that Mr.Stephen Roman, thfough the Stephen B. Roman foundation and Denison Mines Limited, will be "making a $5,000 donation to the furniture fund for the new library. Fund raising tickets were announced indicating that in excess of $140,000 has been raised to date by the Fund - Raising Committee. A further $19,000 is being sought by the Committee before it winds down at the end of December.
