50th Wedding Anniversary Douglas and Stella Nesbitt of Brooklin. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Saturday with friends and family at a reception at the Brooklin Masonic Hall. The happy couple have lived all of their lives in the Brooklin area and are the parents of four children and 10 grandchildren. The Nesbitts received telegrams and best wishes from Prime Minister P.E. RE 'Museum is looking for old newspapers Newspapers are a source of important information about our past and with this thought in mind Trish Holman, currator at the Scugog Shores Museum is asking for your help. Many copies of newspapers published in the Port | Perry area during the past century or more are probably lying in the bottoms of cupboard drawers, in" closets, or behind old walls and they contain valuable information about our history. Go Train service extended from Stouffville to Uxbridge. - : The Provincial govern- ment has already indicated they will pick-up the Via service to Stouffville which is to be discontinued next year, by extending Go Train service to Stouffville. It is the hope of Uxbridge Town- ~ ship to convince the Province to extend the service an additional 13 miles to the station in Uxbridge. In an effort to obtain the facts and data necessary to , make a proper presentation to the government, Uxbridge Township has run an advertisement in this week's issue of the Star aimed at potential Go Train users. The information is urgently needed to compile the brief, so act now. This service could be welcomed by commuters from this area who will be losing the services of Via on the Toronto to Havelock run next . year. Mr. Herrema, who is a former mayor of Uxbridge Township, was commenting on the fact the provincial government has decided against plans to set up such a centre in Cayuga, near Hamilton.
