Just :40 seconds into the game Chester Down and Murray Down clicked on a 2 on 1 rush to give Utica the lead. It looked like it was going to be a close game as Tom Wotten deflected in a Wayne McGingra shot to tie the game up. It was short- lived though as Keith Elliott fed Lavel Poulin a break- away pass to put Utica ahead for good. On the play from centre they stormed down into the Beacock end where Elliott passed to Len McEnany who then blasted it into the net. No more scoring was done for awhile as play got scrambly in the centre ice area. Then midway through the second Elliott rifled in a pass from Poulin to make it 4-0. The next goal for Utica was a short handed one as Jim Mason picked off an errant pass and fed Chester Down for-his second of the game. Before the period was through Poulin got his third point on a low shot to the corner. In the third period, Murray Down added two to round out the scoring with Chester Down getting the assist on one. Between the two of them and Laval Poulin and Keith Elliott did all the damage as they all received three points. 1-0 Win Brian's moved closer to Larocque in the standings as they pulled off a squeaker. 1-0 win for O'Neill from Joe DePhillippis did the damage. Both goal tenders pulled off a fair number of saves to keep the game close. Tubby Beer for Larocque's had Dave Lane shaking his head on two chances from in close. Near the end of the game, Larocque's pulled Beer for the extra attacker, but John Lefave kept them at bay for his shutout.
