= : £ al f 50th Wedding Anniversary Friends and family of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jewell helped the couple celebrate their 50th anniversary last Saturday evening at a dinner held at the Watermill Restaurant. The couple live in Sonya, where they were married fifty years ago. They received many cards and telegrams from friends and government officials congratafating them on their special occasion. Ashburn area News The Church School arranged a happy Christmas party for last Sunday morning and there was a nice number out to enjoy it. Christmas carols were sung, the little tots, led by Catherine Humphrey sang, Away in a Manger and Jesus Loves Me. Ruth Olivers class presented their interpret- ations of Christs birthday. in picture, which was shown on the screen, we even saw angels from outerspace. Florence Ashton's class sang a nice number with Mathew" David-chuck and Danny Mink playing the recorder and Jason Smith playing the piano. : Arnold Ashton and Kit Treaves rendered several beautiful duets with their voices, with the flute and piano. A happy time was spent while enjoying muffins and coffee and coolaid for the children. The service at Burns Church was well attended last Sunday in a beautiful Christmas Sunday morning. Ruth Oliver assisted Rev. McEntyre in lighting the advent wreath. The choir sang "The Prince of Peace." Rev. McEntyre's message was taken from St. Lukes Gospel and entitled "On Earth Peace?". During the service Bradley, Adam,Harris McLellan baby son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil McLellan was baptised. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Scott were the god Parents. A New Testiment was presented to Bradley from the Church by elder, Ruth Oliver and Hugh - Knight clerk of Session pre- sented the parents with the baptisimal certificate. Everyone is invited to attend the candlelighting carol service in the church on Christmas Eve at 7:30 P.M. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Griffin, our new store keepers held a lovely Christmas open house on Sunday afternoon, when many neighbours and friends called and enjoyed a visit. We would like to send a Christmas greeting and a happy New Year to Mr. Brian Knight who has secured work in the North West Territories in the Yukon. Mr. Jeff Gardiner of Cal- gary area is spending the holidays at his home here with his mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Cincurak. Mrs. Helena Brown and her family enjoyed a Christmas dinner together at the Riverboat in Port Perry last Saturday evening.
