December 23, 1981 -- 31 Pacers drop two games in tournament c_4ar Creek news by Hillis Wilbur ; On Sat, morning the Grant Menzies Pacer's played against 'Oshawa Canadian Legion and lost 3 to 2 with one of their worst games this year. Scoring for Port was Mark Goreski assisted by Chico Vaz and Jeff John- stone assisted by Dave Kemp and Dean Smith. Losing this game put them into the Consolation round. They played Bowmanville at 6 P.M. Sat. and being a man short of 2 line's came up with a superior effort and won 3 to "0. Scoring for the Pacers was Chico Vaz assisted by Kevin Ferguson, Little "Mryt"' McKee then scored a short Petites drop game fo Oshawa On Sat. Dec. 19, 1981 the Bruton's I.D.A. Petites hosted the Oshawa C team and lost by ascoreof5-4ina well-played game. Jenny Blanchard, assisted by Kim Loudfoot, scored the first goal. The second goal was scored by Misty Andrews, unassisted. This was Misty's first goal of the season. Jessica Fluke, assisted by Karyn Biffin and 'Michelle Beare, scored the third goal. This was also Jessica's first goal of the season. Jessica usually plays in net but has been playing out of goal for the last few games. Kim Loudfoot scored our last goal unassisted. Laura and Jen shared the goal-tending duties. AH girls played very well 8G : handed goal with an end to end rush. Jamie Lane round- ed out the scoring assisted by Jeff Johnstone and Chico Vaz. In the consolation game they lost 2 to 1 to Oshawa Bruins. Scoring for Port was Chico Vaz on a good solo effort. The score was 1 to 0 for Port late in the 3rd period when Chico was called for a cheap kneeing penalty and unsportsman for asking why. Oshawa tied it up by pulling their goalie with 33 seconds to go. The game went into overtime and Oshawa scored to win the game. Ken Harman gave us outstanding goaltending in the tourna- ment, if all of the team starts playing with his determinat- ion to win, we should be all Ontario Champs. On Dec. 14, the Pacer's played Stouffville in a league game and won 10 to 2. Scoring for the Pacer's was Jamie Lane 2 goals and 3 assists, Chico Vaz 2 goals and 1 assist, Jeff Johnstone with 2 goals and 1 assist, Kevin Ferguson 1 goal and 1 assist, Vaughan McKee with a goal.
