Weather dumps MoJacks, Muskies The weatherman defeated the Port Perry MoJacks and Lindsay Muskies as the Junior C game slated for last Sunday night at the Scugog Arena had to be postponed. The game will be made up, but team officials are not certain at this time whether it will be after the regular schedule has been com- pleted. . The game in Port Perry was to have been the second half of a home and home series for the two teams over the weekend with the . Muskies tripping the Mo- Tweens win by Jeannie Muir The Chris Allen Aluminim Tweens. hosted the Ajax Tween team on Sat. Jan. 9th. The Chris Allen Tweens played one of their better games and came up victors with a 6 - 1 final score. Karyn Raines had a goal and two assists, Donna Edwards also had a goal and an assist. Heather Muir had three goals and Heidi Meisner scored the last one with assists going to Coleen Scala and Natalie Franssen, Bobbie Jo Heaps had 2 assists and Lesley Biffin had three. Heather is our top scorer and this is her fourth hat trick in as many games. Lori Ann Newall was in goal and saved some good shots, I would like to mention Tina Soomré and Natalie Franssen who play superbly on defence most games with very little chance to score, they keep us in the game many times. Each girl is improving with every game played. . Jacks 8 - 3 in Lindsay Friday night. Muskies jumped into a quick 4 - 0 lead by the mid-point of the first period, and by the end of the first had built a 5 - 0 lead. MoJacks finally began to get untracked in the second period as John Robertson, Mike Geer and Charlie Brown found the range and 'the Port Perry defense held the Muskies scoreless. However, the Muskies picked up in the third where they had left off in the first and added three goals in the final 20 minutes to win the game 8 - 3. Ray Gibson started the game in nets for the Mo- Jacks, but he took himself out after four got by him early in the first. Clay Lovering played the remainder of the game in goal and he was brilliant at times, coming up with numerous key stops. Lovering has had a hot hand lately in the nets for the MoJacks and played superbly January 6 in Bewdley as the MoJacks defeated the Rangers 7 - 3. That was the first win for 'new head coach Gary Elliott, who took over the reins just after Christmas. . In the Bewdley game, Todd Wilbur hit for a hat trick, Brian Mikkelsen fired a pair of goals and singles went to Jamie Bird and John Robertson. Wilbur, who is team captain and leads the club in points has been bothered recently with back problems and in the game Friday night against the Muskies was taken from the arena on a stretcher. This was the second time 'in the last three games where the back has popped' 'on him. It is not known when he will be ready to return to action. PROTEST Team officials learned Monday that a protest filed with the OHA over a game December 22 in Stouffville has been ruled in Port Perry's favour. Stouffville won the game, but the two points have been awarded to the MoJacks. The OHA upheld. the con- tention by the MoJacks that a Stouffville player who took part in that game was not properly registered with the OHA. * The two points may turn out to be very important as the team prepares for the final month of the schedule 'and a position in the opening round of the playoffs. MoJack currently have 24 points and a good hold on sixth place in the ten team league. Port Hope and Stouffville -are tied with 27 points each, while Uxbridge has 20, Bewdley 19 and Lake- "field 17 points. Bowmanville leads the pack followed by Cobourg and Lindsay. It appears as if these three clubs will finish inthe top three league stand- ings. MoJacks have two important games coming up this weekend as they meet the Chiefs in Lakefield Friday night .and host the same team at the Scugog Arena Sunday night with face-off at 7:30. The Chiefs handed the MoJacks a 9 - 1 loss the last time the teams met at the Scugog Arena, so the MoJacks will be looking for revenge.
