The Social Club are having a bowling party at Uxbridge this Saturday, March 27, at 8 p.m. If you're interested please feel welcome to join in. They will return to Epsom Church following the bowling for refreshments. There will be a euchre this Friday at 8 p.m. in Utica Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hinch- cliffe of Toronto were Thurs- day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Eric Carre and family. The Browns and the Wilburs attended the Junior C Hockey Banquet in Port Perry on Sat. evening. Con- gratulations to Todd on being chosen co-winner of the MVP award. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brown of Beaverton and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Gerrow and boys of Oshawa were Sunday visitors with the William Novice advance to finals by Linda Parry The J.T. Pearce Auction- eers beat the team from Pickerins, Village and now advance into the final play- offs against the Stouffville Polar bears. On Wednesday Mar. 17 the Auctioneers travelled to Pickering and won their game 5-0. In less than 2 minutes into the game Jason Towns scored the opening goal on a shot through the goalies legs. The assists went to Greg Fitzgerald and Jeff Parry. Mark Feasby got the next marker after pick- ing up a pass from the stick of Chris Forder. Mark Andrews scored early into the second period on a pass from Danny Sluggett and the fourth goal came when Jason Cochrane picked up a re- bound shot from Mark Andrews to beat the Picker- ing goalie. Jan Heyes was also credited with an assist. In the final period Scott Menzies scored on a beauti- ful corner shot assisted by Mike Beasby and Steve Staniland. The goaltending was shared by Shawn Larocque and Noel Lover- ing. Shawn had to work hard and made many fine saves, but Noel never saw any action. The Auctioneers will play their first playoff game against Stouffville on Tues- day this week, and the winner of the series will be the best two out of three games. Browns. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brown visited on Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meyers in Scarborough. Mrs. W.W. Scott of London was a weekend visitor with her mother Mrs. Crosier. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Scho- field and family were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. George Harper. Blair stayed on to visit with his grandparents for a few days. Mrs. Mildred Thompson attended the George Jones show at Maple Leaf Gardens on Friday evening and on Saturday evening attended a birthday celebration for Chris Clarke at Uxbridge. Mr. and Mrs. Doug MacSween and boys were weekend guests with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Harold Walker in Scarboro and on Saturday attended the Sportsman Show in Toronto. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fielding on their 40th wedding anniversary. HELPING News of interest from Utica and area On Sat. evening they were treated to dinner at El Stavro's in Oshawa by their family Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fielding, Mr. Bill Fielding and Miss Donna Wakeford. Mr. and Mrs. Don Acker of Oshawa called on the Fieldings on Sat. afternoon to wish them well and on Sun. visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fielding and girls and Miss Donna Wake- ford of Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sutcliffe received word that their granddaughter Sandra and Rick Ladd in Texas have a baby boy, just born on Sunday. Mrs. Doris Bray, Angie and John of Port Perry were Saturday visitors with the Sutcliffes. Mrs. Crosier and Mrs. Scott visited with Miss Vera Prentice who is a patient in Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Petites defeat Oshawa 9-5 On Sat. Mar. 20th, Bruton's I.D.A. Petites played the last game of their round robin league playoffs. They defeat- ed the Oshawa C team by a score of 9 to 5. This win brought their playoff record to 3 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie. At this time it is not known how the team finished in the standings but the coaching staff feels they finished in the top 3. The goal scoring again was shared by all three lines, Val White 2, Kim Loudfoot 2, Jenny Blanchard 4, also Kelly Calloway 1 scored for Port Perry. Assists went to Val 2, Kim 1, Laura Edwards 1, Kerri Allen 1, Michelle Beare 1, and Karyn Biffin 1. The defence with Jen Pelow in goal, Melissa Moehring, Denise Wilson, Jessica Fluke, Michelle and Laura again played a strong game. These girls along with Misty, Nicky, and Heather earned the praise of parents and coaching staff for their hard working performance. It is felt that if these girls con- tinue their fine play of this season, they will make a fine showing at the Regional Tournament Apr. 3 and 4 in Walkworth.
