Arnold Kerry elected rep. on O.R.F.E.D.A. AN a rd PROB LFA OA Te aye Eo A PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed. March 24, 1982 -- 7 Tenders for road materials accepted, council will cut back orders to save Increased costs for road materials will mean that Scugog Township will probably have to cut back this year in the quantity of orders. The cost of such things as hot mixed asphalt, sand, gravel and calcium chloride has increased by about ten per cent, but Township roads superintendent Ron MacDonald said Monday the municipality will cut back its orders to keep the dollar increase at about the 1981 levels. Mr. MacDonald made the comments after council awarded tenders for the supply of the various materials used by the Roads department. The successful bidders are as follows: Millar Paving will supply calcium chloride at $166 per metric tonne for a" total of $108,368. Millar Paving will supply 1700 tonnes of hot mixed asphalt at $31.40 for a total of $53,380. Van Camp Contracting will supply screened winter sand at $2.49 per cubic meter up to ten KM, and an extra 16 cents over 10 KM. The total here is about $15,000. Fred Neson Ltd. will supply crushed gravel worth about $100,000 (off belt, stockpiled, up to ten KM and over 10 KM). And Harnden and King will supply the various com- ponents for bituminous sur- face treatments at a cost of $134,566. In all cases, the lowest bid was the one accepted by council. The tenders award- ed by council must now be approved by the MTC.
