April 7, 1982 -- 19 Seagrave area news During March break, Sea- grave Play Group enjoyed a bus trip to Purple Woods Conservation Area to see a demonstration of maple syrup. making. Following, everyone had pancakes and syrup, much to the delight of all. This event probably turned into a sticky sit- uation. } Mr. Roy Smith, formerly of our area, was travelling on the 12th concession near the Beaver Pond to the west and back of Puckrin's farm. At this point, he saw a pair of white whistling swans, a pair of mallard ducks, and a pair of kingfishers. Glancing north, he also saw a pair of blue heron. For anyone interested in nature, that sounds like the place to head for with your camera. Mr. Smith says there are lit- erally hundreds of robins in Port Perry, so spring weather can't be too far away! Thanks so much to every- one who called in with their news. As this is my initial experience with the Sea- grave news team, I really appreciated the helpful response. It will be difficult to follow in the competent footsteps of Barb and Marilyn but I will try my best. Special thanks to Barb for her experienced advice and Doug for his patience! I wish everyone a safe and happy Easter. Let's hope the Easter Bunny doesn't have to hop through any snow! Please call Marilyn with .your news this week at 985- 3595.
