The new members, eight years and up, will bring enthusiasm, energy and new ideas to the group. Together they will learn through work- shops, seminars, and first hand experience about every aspect of modern and old theatre. In February, a meeting was called by Beth Schryburt with _. the committee: Lana Douglass, Jan Johnson, Gail Glass,' Glenys Windsor, . Giny Masterson, Marg Lawrence, Shirley Ware, Marilyn Wood and Lyn Sparling to discuss and establish details of a youth program within Scugog. It was decided at that time that our main objective was; "To stimu- late youth to appreciate and participate in all aspects of theatre and provide a means and education to achieve quality." Sunday, April 18 was the first registration date at the Town Hall 1873. There was plenty of excitement with the stage crew building the set for 'Busybody', cast rehearsal, ticket sales, and youth registration. Several new members signed up and Borelians are looking for- ward to many more on Tues- day April 20, and Sunday April 25. After the registration has been completed, a 'tally' will be made of numbers of members and which area of Scugog they live in; if there is enough interest, groups will be set up in close proximity to where they live for the summer to work towards performances for Western Weekend. The committee did not want the younger members separated by a 'name' but included as a Borelian. Workshops set up will be attended by any Borelian member, young or old with the desire to learn. Young and old will work together, family memberships are available for three or more at just eighteen .dollars a year. Members will be given ample opportunity to explore their talents: Western Week- end, fall collective, Christmas play, skits for area fairs, and a small production staged for Bore- lian spring and fall general meetings. It should, be noted here that much discussion went: on concerning the place of meetings or workshops. As it stands now, Town Hall 1873 will be our 'home base', but many buildings are avail- able to us in the surrounding villages. / The first workshop will be an introduction to the theatre with just enough of a nibble to spark keen interest in every area of theatre. After the workshops will be held two at a time and two different groups which switch places at half time to allow for a smaller group. Trips to out of town per- formances should become part of the education. As a group money will be raised to supplement the cost of area.theatre, The study of theatre today includes many tangents such as: mime, puppet theatre, Canuki theatre, singing, and dancing, Then of course they will all do their share of the work done by unsung heros; set design, make-up, ad- vertising, props, play read- ing, sound system, costumes, lighting, stage management, producing, and directing. It's going to be a very exciting season for the Borelians; why not join us! ) Scugog Museum now open on week days by Jane Baird Scugog Shores Museum is open for visitors on week days. this month.
