Cartwright Softball by Mike Dearborn The half-way point in the season was reached last week for the boys and girls on the fourteen teams. On Monday evening, Lishmans met Caesarea Fish and Chips with Lishmans winning 19 to 5. Stephen Staniland led the hitters with 2 home runs and a triple. Kevin Ellis added a triple and Julie Cordon added two " doubles. David Andrews hit | | | | i two homers and Geordie Lishman added a solo homer. For Caesarea Donnie Hughes slugged a homer and he and Melissa Haines team- ed up to pitch. In the other Junior match- up on Monday Thompson's Village Market were defeat- ed in a fine low scoring game 7 to 4 by David's Hairstyling. For David's Derrick Rown- tree hit a double. Tracy Hoskins made a super catch in the left field for Thompsons. On Thursday afternoon in a rain postponed game Caesarea Fish and Chips defeated Thompson's Village Market 15 to 12. Billy Allen had a triple assisted by doubles from Katy Thistle and -Peter Simms from the Caesarea team. Donnie Hughes made a great catch at 3rd base also. For the Thompson team.Art Schry- burt belted a triple and Joel Schryburt and Keith Reid teamed up to pitch. The Intermediate league came out on Tuesday evening with H.W.Mason Haulage playing Port Perry Funland. The Mason team defeated Funland with the 5 home run hitting of Greg Stapleton and Dennis Williamson added a homer for Funland. The other match-up pitted Marj Tripp Real Estate Limited against Don Frew and Sons in a very low scoring game that wasn't decided until the last inning. Marj Tripp team members were trailing 3 to 1 going into the last inning when Tyler James smashed a three run homer to win the contest. Danny Maw added a homer. On Wednesday evening the Senior league boys and girls took to the diamonds with Blackstock~ and District Lions marrowly defeating Port Perry Kinsmen of Caesarea by one runin a well played match. The contractors applied a sealer coat to the ashpalt before applying two coats of a rubber compound and two coats of paint to the surface. The new surface has been painted red and green and is said to be much easier to play on with the rubber base.
