The playgrounds are supported by the Township through a provincial government grant for children between the ages of 4t0 12 and run for a six-week period ending August 13. The cost of the 9 to 4 program is $5. a week or $25. for the six-week period and $10. for each additional child. Each week features a different theme and Prince Albert playground was no different as this past week it -was an animal theme. The children dressed up as their favourite animals, played games, made crafts and listened to stories. Terri Healey of Scugog Island and director of the Prince Albert Playground, said that in the six-week period, her class of 30 among other things will host a bazaar, go to a zoo and tour Mother's Pizza Parlour and McDonalds. Scugog Island Playground by Kathy Irvine Well, the Scugog Island Playground has finished their second exciting week once again. The theme this week at Scugog Island was the French Canadian culture Highlights of the week included the cooking of de- licious crepes topped with scrumptious homemade am. Crafts included mobiles, posters, crepe paper crafts and the children's favourite, sponge painting. 'The week of July 19-23 is holiday week. Monday is Valentine's Day, Tuesday is Easter, Thursday is Hallo- we'en. On Hallowe'en the children will be dressing up in the afternoon and will be bobbing for apples. Wednesday and Friday are a mixture of all the other holidays. We also start swimming on . Blackstock Playground by Vanessa, Sue & Caroline Welcome back to the con- tinuing adventures of "The Young and The Restless Blackstock Playground. This week's story finds the children pursuing their life's ambitions. During career week, we found our children wanted to be policemen, bus drivers, millionaires and one boy even wanted to be a circle! The children had many visitors during the week. Our thanks go to Mr. McDonald who showed us the Caesarea Fire Depart- ment; Mrs. Alice Lee, our nurse, and Officer Keys our local police officer. Friday morning our "Galloping Gourmets"' feasted on a homemade fruit salad. Each child con- tributed a fruit and com- bined, it made a superb snack. A miniature village was constructed with everyone making the building that they want to work in, when they grow up. The week was concluded with funeral services conducted for our feathered playground mascot, Eugene, who met with an untimely dog! PRINCE ALBERT PLAYGROUND by Terri, Dawn and Kathleen The little monkeys and big apes were in full swing at Prince Albert Playground last week. It was Animal Week. Tuesday the kids brought their favourite stuffed animals and Wed- nesday, the Prince Albert Zoo was well under way with animal costumes and make- up. We had cats, bears, bunnies, mice and even a little bull. After films on Wednesday afternoon, the kids were presented with ribbons for their outstanding costumes. Thursday got rolling with a two-hour skate at the Scugog Arena and Friday brought pet-picture day. Everyone brought pictures of their pets for show and tell. Our special guest Friday morning was an eighteen pound, short- tailed cat named Buttercup. We would like to thank Janet and Michelle Bray for allow- ing Buttercup to visit. We've heard of a cat losing its mittens, but never a cat losing it's tail? Next week is Craft Week and we will all be busy making crafts and making goodies for our big Bazaar, Bake sale and Car wash on Thursday, July 22 at 10'clock at the Prince Albert Hall.
