The Port Perry group was part of about 175 nursing home residents who attended the picnic which was the kick-off for the annual Heart Fund Jamboree in Ontario. Last year, 355 nursing homes in Ontario participated in the Jamboree, and the objective this year is to raise $50,000 for the Heart Fund. On Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Moore visit- ed Mr. and Mrs. H. Ashton. The Social Club held their annual picnic at Tapscott's cottage at Cameron Lake. It rained! but didn't dampen spirits. The children in bath- ing suits had a wonderful time, no one was on a diet, the food was plentiful and delicious. Daily Vacation Bible School will begin a week from to-day July 26 - 30th. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. Did you ever think of the phrase "God doesn't go on vacation or on strike? Our Church service will continue through the summer. Please come and bring your children for though there is no regular Sunday School, there are planned activities for the children. Peter and Rose Kegstra and girls Laura and Karen visited Postma's on Sunday. We are pleased to learn Gord and Jill Postma's wee daughter Tricia is home from hospital and feeling better. On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson, Douglas, Beth Michael and Tanya attended the Lee picnic held at Lloyd Lee's cottage at Orillia. Many of the farming community enjoyed the County's Twilight meeting and beef barbeque held last Tuesday at the farm of Robert Jibb and Sons in Sunderland. Doug, Beth, Michael, and Tanya spent Wednesday with Don and Fay Simmonds at the cottage at Port Bolster. Congratulations to P.P.H.S. Ontario Scholars Jennifer Simmonds 94.7 per cent, Jennette Houghland 88 per cent, Donna Kerry 80.7 per cent, also 1982 honour students - Tracy Gourlie, Ann Tapscott, Linda Albers, Sandra Bolton, Tracy Elson, Mark Kerry, and Jacquline Skelding. Wonderful work girls, we are very proud of you all. Miss Vera Prentice had a number of - family and friends visit her in hospital last Tuesday. Happy Birth- day Vera. We all hope you will be home soon. Happy ninety-second birthday, best: wishes from all of us. Frank and Donna Van- Veghel and family attended a barbeque at Mill Run for the soccer team last week. Mrs. Mary Wilson was a Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson. Saturday dinner guests at Egins were Cheryl and Danny Wilson, Sandy and John Chapman, and Sean. Ken Green, Anne Thompson and Maggie McKiegan. Just a reminder. You are invited to a community picnic at the home of Harry and Ruth Boadway Sunday July 25- at 12:30.
