WPA WAM "RAPES Ih YR STEN XW HERAT UY SER RE 0 Cu VN #8 r 6 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday July 27, 1982 letters f 4 "Yes we are proudly Canadian" _ Dear Sir: Canada was my big dream - Indians - Eskimo's - Snow - Lakes - Canadian Rockies - Prairies - Niagara Falls and lots of wide open spaces. Over the years many countries invited. you to come live their way. T.V. came and showed you how people and places really were - time to stop dreaming and make it reality. We worked hard to get '"things" together - make the fantastic trip by sea - such a first beautifuly day we look- ed out over Quebec city. Our three children, husband and I, people from "everywhere" so thrilled and happy, full of Our New Country. I became a "Canadian" as we left Southampton Docks. We have raised our children to be thoughtful, hardwork- ing, taking pride in them- selves as Proud Canadians. We travel when we can - by road - nothing fancy - out and about to meet people - see sunrises and sunsets - touch - smell see fantastic coloured skies - land rocks and water. We enjoy the simple happy satisfying Canadian Way of Life. Right here in Port Perry our place of work Proudly Canadian by a handful of people - management - start- Proud Canadian Dear Sir: I would like to explain to your readers why 1 like Canada. In 1964 my father came to Canada for a short visit and since then has come back three times. He said he wasn't sure why he liked it here, but he thought it was the Canadian Water. He also loves Cornflakes. In fact he likes them so much when he returned to )Yug- oslavia he wrote a letter asking us to send him more of this cereal. I sent two large boxes between his clothes. Two years ago we went to ~ visit my husbands mother. After only three days there we wanted to come back home to Canada. After the six week visit was finished, we were at the airport waiting for the plane when my eight year-old daughter screamed. She saw the Air Canada plane arriving and we were So happy tears came to my eyes. I don't know why, but I think it was my love, for Canada. One thing I do know for sure and that is "I am very proud to be a Canadian". A. Breznikar RR.1 Port Perry ing over again after our Uxbridge plant was sold. That was in 1972. They have been good for Port Perry and area. They have met and overcome many setbacks and challenges - up and downs - big thing is we worked together and expand- ed. Lately sign of the times we went into Receivership. We had meetings - everyone pitched in. Unfortunately Comco changes hands as of July 31, 1982. Few good years! We now have new group of Canadians A.G. Simpson Company Ltd. who are taking up the challenge in these tough times of lay-offs, and closing down. It's going to be work together, give it your best effort, make good parts, support each other making it a Plant to be proud of. Thank you Comco, it's been my pride and pleasure working for and knowing such fine people. We were looking forward on holiday to meeting more of our neighbours south of Border - but as of now it's strictly Canadian - Canada has everything you could ever need from sea to sea, north south east and west, there is something for every- one. Fly our Flag - talk to each other, give a pat on the back, how about a hug and a smile! We can do it! May you and yours live, love and laugh in this our Great Canadian Way of Life. Men taught us - if you can't help - don't hurt. Dad said - Leave things better than you found them! Grandparents told you - Try, Try, and Try again. Canada You Are Truly Great, We are Proudly Canadian. Jenny and Doug Franks R.R 4 Port Perry Thanks for support Dear Sir: On behalf of the Scugog and District Sexual Abuse (Rape) Crisis Centre, 1 would like to take this opportunity to thank all our neighbours and friends for their donations for our: recent yard sale.
