Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Thompson received word this weekend that Mr. Ernie Frier of Orillia had suffered a massive heart attack and died suddenly. Mr. and Mrs. Frier had made plans to visit the Thompsons this week. The two couples were very close friends when they all lived in Nestleton. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Frier and family as well as to Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson. Mrs. Gladys Emerson- Stutt dropped in to visit Mrs. Elaine Thompson-Bailey on her way through to her sister's cottage at Emerson Beach. Several from this area attended the annual McLaughlin Family Picnic held on Sunday afternoon at the Hayden Community Cenrtre. Fifty-nine attended and sat down to a delicious evening meal. A fine programme of contests was conducted by Catherine Corden and Donna Kyte. The prize for the oldest present went to Mrs. Roy Taylor and to the youngest to Amanda Bradburn. Deb and Ron Vice are in charge for next years annual Picnic. Vern and Vera Asselstine have been away camping recently. They spent one week at Varty Lake camping beside the cottage of Vern's sister-in-law, Mrs. Thelma Asselstine. Then they spent another week beside a nephew's cottage, Rick Mortimer of Severn Falls. Joan and Ralph Swain, Dave and Deb Horton and Wayne Horton and Mary Tomlinson spent a week camping near Minden. Lorrie and Brett Swain holidayed with their grand- parents, Tom and Marg Horton while their parents were away. During the week word came of the passing of Marg Horton's brother-in-law, Keith Overbough of Scotland. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Horton, Lorrie and Brett Swain along with Mrs. Roy Graham attended the funeral and went on to Simcoe where they visited another sister, Audrey and Ben Morris. Sympathy to the Horton family on this bereavement. Jean and Ralph Kronister are away camping at Silent Lake near Peterborough for this week. Richard and Eleanor Carson and Andrea of Toronto were recent evening dinner guests of their previous neighbours, Mr. and Mrs. Roy McLaughlin. Congratulations to Stacey Swain who celebrated her birthday recently with a birthday party. Mid-week luncheon guests of Neil and Elaine and Tara Bailey were Mrs. Laura Dawson, Barrie and her Florida friend, Mr. Bob Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. John Reader, Whitby, visited the Neil Baileys Friday afternoon. Howard Bailey phoned home from Germany on Sat- urday noon. He had returned to his host family from his side trips where he picks up his luggage and journeys to Amsterdam and on to London. He shall fly home EE th - .
