'Scugog Island W.I. by Christina Prentice The July meeting of Scugog Island W.I. met at the home of Lynda Parry, this is our picnic meeting, there was a good turnout of members and children. And Lynda's pool was a great hit as the weatherman gave us a beautiful day. A short business meeting, followed. A big vote of thanks to everyone who made our Annual Auction sale a big success. And 1983 is our 10th sale so look for something special at this. The Fair committee will be looking after the display - either articles from Grandmas kitchen or a bridal shower. September 29th W.I. work- shop at the hall. August is guiding at the musuem. Lynda conducted a chinese auction. The meeting closed and we thank Lynda for having us. Sra he A RI ASG A horsemanship program offered by Terry and Shirley Cane of Hoskin Stables near Blackstock has been provi- ding satisfaction to horse lovers for the past four years. The program originated out of the summer school program from Bowmanville High School and is open to anyone interested from the ages of six and up. Each session runs for a three-week period, five days a week from 9 to 12. Two three-week lessons,, are organized totalling 100 students. A class of 50 are brought through drills such as show- manship on the line, interest films, the anatomy of a horse and most importantly, says Mrs. Cane, safety. Certificates are granted at the completion of the course. The Cane's provide 14 work horses but students with their own may bring them.
