He is completing his first term as the Scugog Township rep on the Durham Board of Education. STUART McENTYRE Scugog will elect one rep to sit on School Board this November. The Township used to have two reps on the Board, but lost one to Ux- bridge prior to the 1980 election because of a shift in the assessment values of the two Townships. The municipal election this November will see a major change with a three year term for members of council and the School Board. The political scene in Scugog Township has been relatively quiet over the past two years, and it is most unlikely that a "hot issue' is going to surface between now and election day. The election two years ago was dominated by the library location issue, but once that was settled early in the term of the present council, members put it behind them and got on with the day to day business of running the municipality. This is not to say that the upcoming election campaign is going to be dull or boring. On the contrary. With councillors Crosier and Wolters seriously thinking of making a jump for another seat and councillor Espey taking a look at the poss- ibility of seeking the Regional seat, there could be some lively battles once the serious campaigning gets © underway: And no doubt as the dead- line for filing nomination papers draws closer, a host of other candidates will announce their intention to seek a seat on Scugog Town- ship council. The deadline for filing nominations is Monday, October 18 at 5:00 P.M. Election Day is Monday, November 8. RY Xe 98 each other.
