Cawker Eastern Star Eleven members of Blue Ray Chapter from the Cart- wright area were on hand for the first meeting after the summer recess held in the Masonic Temple, Port Perry on Thursday evening. The election of a new slate officers for the year 1982-83 was carried out. Next meet- ing will be Installation ceremonies for the newly elected - DATE October 14, 7:30 p.m. The 67th annual sessions of- the grand Chapter of Ontario will be held September 21 to 24, 1982, in the Royal York Hotel, Toronto. The Order of the Easter Star is a benevolent organization with a membership of 34,000 men and women, in Ontario and over 3,000,000 throughout the world. The special project of the Worthy Grand Matron, Mrs. Mary Barton, Madoc, and Worthy Grand Patron, Mr. Donald Symons, Orange- ville, is Arthritis Research Equipment for each of the five University Hospitals in Ontario. The Order supports many other charities, such as Cancer, Heart, Kidney, Diabetes etc. The members of the 260 Chapters: through- out - Ontario contribute voluntarily to the Estarl Program (Eastern Star Training =~ Awards for Religious. Leadership) 143 Student Ministers received Awards of $400.00 each last year. Caesarea Community Church A very good attendance at the Caesarea Church on Sunday morning, September 12. Mrs. Bonnie Ballingal was the organist. The minister Rev. W.H. Caesarea Church has just received a beautiful Pulpit, Lectern and Communion Table - a gift from the Port Perry United Church. They are replacing theirs with new furnishings and have given their existing furnish- ings to Caesarea - how kind and generous - the gesture is much appreciated. Caesarea Euchre With a fair number on hand for the weekly card party on Wednesday evening the winners were: first prize went to Denise Ward with 83. Nestleton United Church Although the weather was hot and humid a very good congregation attended the morning service with Rev. Dale Davis in the pulpit. This was Rally Day when the Sunday School commences activity for another year of Christian Education. Almost 30 children were present on this, first day after the summer holidays. Rev. Dale told the children a story of interest before they retired to their classes. He present- ed a fine message using as his theme, 'School Days." Janice, Claire, and Leslie MacKenzie - a harmonious trio - rendered a sacred number unaccompanied much to the enjoyment of the congregation. Offering was received by Messrs. Ralph Sadler and Norman Mairs. The - lovely bouquet of gladioli gracing the Altar were from Mrs. Bernice Mair's garden. An interesting trip! Norm and Bernice Mairs motored to Barrie on Sat- urday to a flea market re - parts for antique cars. Quite a humid, hot day with very little shade, so they were glad to return to the cool comfort of their lovely mansion. Nestleton Presbyterian Church News An average attendance on Sunday morning at the service with Rev. Fred Swann continuing with the book of Romans 13. His topic "Our duty to those who have been placed in authority over us". Mrs. Shirley Scott play- ~ Ashb The Womens Bible Class of Burns Church met at the home of Muriel Fisher last Wednesday evening. The President Aldeen Wick gave a very helpful opening devotion on "Faith". The scripture was read by Joan Knight and Chrissie McKinney led in prayer. Catherine Humphrey gave a very interesting story of the life of Jochebed, the mother of Moses. Aldeen Wick had a bible quiz and Nellie Hopkins closed the meeting with prayer. The next meeting will be at the home of Margaret Davis the 1st Wed- nesday evening in October. The community picnic was finally held last Saturday at the park after rain had been the cause of postponing it twice. And this time it was a + beautiful day, and everyone enjoyed the races and games and visiting and hot dogs and goodies.
