In the absence of Margaret Mathews president, the vice president, Barbara Porter conducted the meeting. The guest speaker who was introduced by Reta David- chuck was Gail Gray of Ashburn and has a wool shop in Brooklin called 'Warm Woolies and What Nots'. She brought lovely sweaters and things to show and gave many tips in wools and how to best use them. Watch for word of an interesting fashion show coming up later this fall. The Ashburn group of the W.M.S. held their thank offering meeting last Wed- nesday evening October 6th in the church hall. A beautiful Thanksgiving solo was sung by Mrs. Ross Parroit of Glen Major and Mrs. Johansen of Brooklin showed wonderful slides of Israel with a running commentary to explain each slide. A lovely lunch was served and social time spent. The santuary of Burns Church was beautifully decorated for Thanksgiving last Sunday morning. Rev. McEntyre's message was from Romans, the first chapter and entitled "The Thankful Heart". Next Sunday is Burns Church 133rd Anniversary at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Rev. McClure of Whitby will be the guest minister. Arnold Ashton will be the soloist in the morning and Sylvia Kerruish will sing in the evening. Left to right: Jolene Snyder, Pa. prez, judge, Ray Kuehl, associate judge. 2,000 top cattle at Holstein Show The Eastern National Holstein Show concluded judging recently at the pres- tigious Pennsylvania All- American Dairy Show which featured over 2,000 of the finest cattle in North America. The grand champion female Holstein was ex- hibited by R. Peter Heffering of Port Perry, Ontario. The four year old cow, "Brook- view Tony Charity' was also named senior champion female of the show. Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Penrose Hallowell was on hand to present the ribbons to Heffering as well as to present the reserve grand and reserve senior champion ribbons to York Countian, George Knight of Airville. Knight's animal, "North Croft Ella Elevation," also placed first in the six years and older cow class. The junior champion female Holstein, '"Raymon- dairy Boot-Nick Candy' was exhibited by Suzanne Imig of Oconto, Wisconsin. This heifer calf placed first in the senior heifer class. The premier sire was Agriculture, Peter Heffering, owner, Robert Beau- "Elevation Round Oak Rag Apple Elevation." Judge for the Holstein Show was Bob Beauprez of Lafayette, Colorado. The All- American Dairy Show was sponsored by the Pennsyl- vania Dairy and Allied Industries Association in co- operation with the Pennsyl- vania Department of Agri- culture and the Pennsyl- vania State Farm Show Commission. Hanover Hill impressive winner Hanover Hill Holsteins of Port Perry won more honours at the prestigious Central National Show held October 1 and 2 in Madison, Wisconsin. The Madison Show is con- sidered to be the top exhibi- tion for dairy cattle in the United States, drawing spectators from all over the world. Hanover Hill was declared Premier Exhibitor, and runner-up for Breeder. Hanover Hill and George Morgan of Walton, New York exhibited the grand champion female that was ultimately declared Supreme Champion of all breeds. Brookville Tony Chairty won her individual four yer old class. Just recently, this cow had been named Grand Champion Female at the Eastern National Show in Pennsylvania. (See separate story). "Additionally, Hanover Hill won the Reserve Champion honours with JWS Monitor Rachel, the winner of the six year old and older class. This competitor owned jointly with George Morgan, the Premier second female in this class, Gaydale Fury Sadie. Also to Hanover Hill went the first, second and fifth prizes for the Dry Cows; JPG Standout Kandy, Sleepy Hollow FM Marg I and Lawara Ormsby Prilly. Forty-three Junior Heifers were shown with Sequa Slim Misty Kim winning for Hanover Hill and G.
