Pattie and Rick have been telling the good news of their recent engagment. It was a busy week at the home of Bernie and Glenys Gotham. A veterinarian friend, Bruce Springfield, from Australia, spent a couple of days here enroute lo a convention in Hawaii. Bernie's mother, Mrs. Helen Gotham, and nephew, Peter Gotham returned to England on Saturday. That same day Glenys' aunt from Australia Mrs. Hazel Gould arrived for a visit. Friday evening the Bob Bryans along with Gord and Debbie, Steve, Lorinda Jack- son, Rick Alpe and Tom and Wilma Wotten helped Pattie celebrate her birthday. Thursday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson were his sisters, Mrs. Vera Warmington and Mrs. Alba Currie both of Cannington. Mr. and Mrs. B.W. Switzer of Brantford visited Mrs. K. Miss Susan Sheen and her mother, Mrs. Mary Sheen spent Thanksgiving weekend al Miss Sheen's cottage in the Muskokas. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Graham, Mark and Rob were Cheryl Graham, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoskin, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hoskin and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelly and family, Mrs. Pat Fletcher and family, Mr. Don Pacoe of Hampton, Mrs. Reg Boundey of Port Perry, Mr. Chris Mackey from Brooklin. Joan Adams and Dora Martyn are all set to go on the course "Food for all Season" in the rec centre, Friday Oct. 15 beginning at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This course is under the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and is sponsored by the Black- stock W.I. Come and learn how to make your own coatings, mixes, how to shop more economically, and how to use metric measure. Each will take home a cookbook with the recipes we demon- strate. Bring your own lunch and stay over noon hour. The Durham Region Horseback Riding for the handicapped Association held their fourth Annual Ride-a-thon at Hoskin Stables at Blackstock on Sept. 25th. Forty-six riders participated in this event and $4,900 was raised. The Association would like to thank all that assisted in various ways. Zz Blackstock 2 and 3- 4-H groups held another meeting. at the Recreation Centre. This week we learned about no knead breads. Along with sampling some bread, we were also allowed to make some. The leaders continued on with the meeting and then it was adjourned. Mrs. Ella Venning spent Thanksgiving weekend with her daughter Joyce and Dale Gunter at Newmarket. The family was home from their colleges for the weekend to make for great visiting. There were eleven tables at the Senior Citizen's card party with the following winners: 1. M. Poots- 86; 2. Karen and Doug Benns and boys entertained members of Karen's family on Thanksgiving. Guests for this family gathering were Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ellicott Manchester, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Ellicott, Brooklin, Mr. "apd Mrs. Keith Ellicott, Epsom. Doug enjoyed the long weekend home from his job in Elliott Lake. Congratulations to Tammy DeMerchant and Paul Chilco of Port Perry who were married on Saturday in the Port Perry Baptist Church. Tammy had many guests from the Maritimes to make her special day even more special. Attending were her grandmother Mrs. Flora McCullough, her aunt and uncle Peter and Myrna Pacione and family of New Brunswick, her other grand- mother Mrs. Vera Harrison from Gaspe, Quebec, her aunt Jill Garehty from Quebec, another aunt and uncle Terry and Cheryl Harrison from Bathurst N.B., her aunt and uncle Steve and Joy Brooker from Montreal. Also attending were relatives and friends from neighbouring areas. The bride and groom are honeymooning in the Mari- times.
