T. Pearce Auctioneers were kept busy over the weekend with two league games and an exhibition game. Friday, October 22, the Auctioneers played Uxbridge and won the match 3-1. Uxbridge was first on the scoreboard. Early in the second period, the game was tied up when Jeff Parry scored for Port, assisted by Dwayne Empringham and Chad Garvock. Midway into the third period, The Auctioneers took the lead on a goal by Jason McBride, assisted by Jason Cochrane and Stephen Laird. With three minutes to play, Jason Cochrane, assisted by Jason McBride and Stephen Laird put the puck through the goalie's legs for the win. In an out of town game on Saturday, the Auctioneers met Pickering Village. The boys came out skating hard and were rewarded with first goal of the game. Jason Cochrane centered the puck to Stephen Laird who tipped it into the Pickering net. Pickering put on the pressure but were unable to get past Shawn Larocque. The Auctioneers picked up six more goals in the second period. Jason Cochrane scored the first, assisted by Stephen Laird. Thirty seconds later Jason scored again, unassisted. Pickering then scored on a low corner shot to get their only goal of the match. Port's Jody Logan came right back with a goal assisted by Dwayne Empringham and Chad Garvock. Jason Cochrane got a hat trick when he scored the next two goals, with assists awarded to Brad Moase and Stephen Laird. With two minutes left in the period, Jeff Parry passed the puck to Dwayne Empring- ham in the slot, to score Port's seventh goal. Picker- ing picked up two penalties in the period. The third period' saw Stephen Laird scoring the eighth goal on a passing play from Jason Cochrane and Jason McBride. Jason Cochrane got his fifth goal of the game, assisted by Chad Garvock and Dwayne Empringham, making the score 9-1 in Ports favour. Port wasn't finished yet. The Auctioneers were first to score. Jason McBride deflected one in off the stick of Jason Cochrane. Port Perry broomball league by Rob Evans C&B-3 Beacocks - 0 In a close checking, slow paced game, C&B managed to score a goal in each of the three periods. The first came on a perfect shot to the top corner by Dan Taylor. Early in the second period, Rob Evans tipped in a loose bolt for his second point of the game. Mark Lee picked up the assist. After this goal, the game became one of ball control with both teams getting few chances to score. Beacock's Rick McClean kept his team in the game by stopping a breakaway by Ashbridge and C&B's Fraser preserved his third shutout of the year by stopping Dalton's breakaway. Aldon Smith finished the scoring when he converted a Tim Pee Wees upset 4-2 by Sutton Friday, October 22nd, in the first regular league game of the 82-83 season, The Legion PeeWee A's dropped a 4-2 loss to Sutton. Keith Roberge and Daryl Leatherdale combined to assist Mark Barkey on the second goal. Sutton again scoring in the third period, made the final score 4-2. Oshawa controlling the play in Ports end scored early in the first period, but a well executed pass from Mike Sorley to Brad Menzies soon had Port also on the scoreboard. Very close checking by both teams, some key saves by Stacey Ballingall, had the teams still in a 1-1 deadlock after two periods. Port came out flying in the third period, displaying excellent passing plays resulting in 4 goals being scored. Brad Menzies picked up his second of the game assisted by Mike Sorley, Warren Geer made it 3-1 from Sorley and Menzies. John Lally after previously hitting the goal post made no mistake" on a pass from Andrew Steele. Mark Barkey robbed on several attempts put away the final marker with Lally earning the assist. O'Neill kept the scorekeeper busy by scoring his second goal of the game thirty seconds later. Bill Peeters collected the assist. Oddfellows Ronel Herbert broke Brians shutout bid by blasting a high shot past Deshane. Pomeroy picked up the assist. McArthur finished the scoring for Brians.
