art alin PRL ar by Patty Williams Over the holiday season many of us gathered with friends and family to share in the Christmas spirit and bring in the new year. The Christmas Dance this year sponsored by the Sea- grave Parks Association was particularly successful. Don- ations of prizes by a number of groups in the area added to the fun and excitement. Following is a list of prize winners with donors in brackets: Ray Abraham (Mariposa Mens Ball Team); Marilyn Puckrin (Seagrave Interiors); Al Dunlop (Turkey Power Ball Team); John Vernon (Sea- grave Country Store); Wayne Peyton (Seagrave Turkey Power); Jackie Boyle (Irwin Smith Music); Marilyn Durnford (Seagrave Parks Association); and Rick Trotter (Uxpool). Wayne Addison was the lucky winner of a black and white TV in a special draw. The Christmas Party for the preschoolers in the area was held on Monday, Dec. 20 and quite a few little ones in the area attended. While the children enjoyed refresh- ments this year, play groups was discussed and a new format was planned. We will be setting up the schedule and the number of members is limited so if you have a child starting school in Sept- ember and you are interest- ed in joining, please give me a call this week at 985-2453. On Tuesday, Dec. 21, we had the pleasure of attending the Christmas Concert put on by Immaculate Conception School in the church hall. Following the delightful and entertaining program, coffee and cookies were served. On Christmas Eve, Imm- aculate Conception Church was crowded with wor- shippers who had come for the service. The beautiful carols and the enactment of the Christmas Story by the school children added to the ceremony. We were par- ticularly proud as our little boy, Sean, took the part of the infant Jesus while big brother, Michael looked on as one of the animals. After the lovely Christmas Eve Service at Seagrave United Church, Greg and Liz Smith hosted a little get together for neighbours and friends. Archie and Anna Walker were very pleased to have daughter, Marianne, her husband, Brian and sons, Corey and Jason of London for the Christmas weekend. Roaring TL PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, January 4, 1983 -- 25 by Viola Johnson On Thursday, December 23 at 7:30 the candellight and white gift service sponsored by the Sunday School and the youth groups was greatly enjoyed by a full church and a financial success. The pro- gram was excellent. The choir sang two lovely Christmas numbers. he youth groups and the Sunday School provided an excellent program. The Christmas spirit ran through the whole program of all kinds of in- strumental music, singing, and a varied program. We were pleased to have Rev. Linstead and Mrs. Linstead there both looking well and happy. On Sunday, Dec. 26 at the church hour we were very happy to have the choir with us. They sang two numbers of Christmas music. Miss McLean was in charge of the Manchester news service. We were glad to see her and her mother back from their holiday looking well. We had visitors from Kingston, Andrew and Mathew Dier grandchildren of Rev. McKay and Mrs. McKay. We had a former choir member and soloist home for the holiday and at church with her husband baby Jennifer and parents, formerly Jessie Oosterlo. We were certainly pleased to see Jim Jessie and baby Jennifer again. We had a large congregation and a lovely church service follow- ed by lunch afterwards. All voiced a Happy Christmas Day with their relatives and friends. Our community was sad to hear of the terrible loss suffered by the Island people in the death by accident on Sat. Dec. 18 of a young man John Jackson Kane. - x 2 ) MORLEY BRUCE Res.: 985-2528 REM Ve 985-7361 <= Scugoy realty iimited 89 ACRES - 20 acres workable, remainder mostly hardwood and birch.
