Cartwright softball season Hawks host annual - by Peter Morris The Uxbridge Black Hawks Oldtimers are hosting their third annual Pow Wow Hockey Tournament this coming weekend at the Uxbridge Comm- unity Centre. Sports fans in the Port Perry area are invited to drop by the Community Centre anytime from 6:00 P.M. Friday (open- ing game time) to Sunday at 5 P.M. (final championship game). This year the local Port Perry Howard Forder Real Estate Old- timers are entered in the tournament for the first time and show promise of being highly competitive. The tournament has expanded this year from 12 to 16 teams and from three to four divisional championships. Each team will be abje to play to its own level and divisional playoff based on won-lost records. Several area based teams will be competing including Uxbridge Islanders, Oakwood, Victoria County, Ajax, Pickering and Lindsay. Port Perry Lions reach OASA finals by Lee Wilbur The Port Perry Lions Club Bantams reached the 0.A.S.A. Tourna- ment held at New Ham- burg on the weekend by defeating Uxbridge and Stouffville. It took the Bantams three games to put out Uxbridge. Winning the first game 9-0, losing the second 12-3 and winning the third 4-0. The first game Jeff Cockerton threw a 2 hitter and 5 strikeouts. Greg Warriner had a double and a triple. Lee Wilbur had a home run. Other hits went to Paul Gor- eski with 2 singles, Craig Menzies, Jeff Cockerton, Fred Cockerton, Steve Solomon and John Moore all had singles each. Second game, Port's defense collasped as Uxbridge beat them 12-3. Craig McFadden and Jeff Cockerton com- bined for 8 strike outs.
