The cover of this new publication (only its 3rd issue) shows a colour photograph of Regional Chairman Gary Herrema standing in front of the Pickering GO station. Inside the magazine, which boasts a cir- culation of 32,000 copies, a special focus on Durham Region, entitled '*Build your founda- tion on solid ground," expounds the advantages to businesses locating in the region. Aside from numerous articles and photographs on the Region of Durham, each of the eight municipalities have a one or two page advertisement which tells prospective developers, or businesses why their community is right for them. A telegram was received from the Queen of England along with letters of congratu- lations and best wishes from Prime Minister Trudeau, Premier Davis and M.P. Allan Lawrence. Following the Open House, Mr. and Mrs. Luke were joined by sons Morley, Allan, Bruce, Carl, Earlby, Ivan and daughter Audrey, along with their families for a buffet dinner. There was a total of 65 persons attending the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Luke have 23 grandchildren and 30 great granchildren. The day was most enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Luke and they wish to thank their family and friends for joining them on the gala occasion. UXBRIDGE - Local businessman Alex Williamson has begun to erect a new industrial building on his land in hopes of attracting a small industry to the community. Mr. William- son says he would not hesitate to erect another building on spec in the future if all goes well with this project. The present building is ex- pected to be ready for occupancy by the first of December. UXBRIDGE - To celebrate the 125th an- niversary of Trinity United Church in Ux- bridge, the Dofasco Male Chorus will perform on Monday, October 24, at 8:15 p.m. at the church. The 60-member choir is sponsored by Dofasco Inc., of Hamilton. Admission to the performance is free. WHITBY - Whitby's Marigold Festival is $10,000 in debt and the committee has asked town council for help in paying off some of the debt incurred during the four-day festival held last month. Chairman Howard Smith says that although expenses were in line, the income was not as the overall attendance for the event was away down. BLACKWATER - A 62 year old Oshawa man was killed in a two-car collision near here on Saturday night. The accident occurred at 8:30 p.m. on highway 12 and the 4th concession of Brock. A 23-year old Agincourt man was charged with dangerous driving and impaired driving by Beaverton OPP. Oter-$9,000. in damage was done to the two vehicles. BOWMANVILLE - A study of the town's recreational and cultural activities indicates that attending movies is the most popular pastime enjoyed by residents. Ninety-two per cent of the public sampled attended movies, while the public library was used by 76 per cent.
