SECM ESN SFR Ae NCP SS EH IA RE EAS Wy Greenbank U.C.W. November Meeting The topics "Peace" and "Remembrance"' were combined as a theme for the worship service when the Fidelis Unit of Greenbank UCW met for the November meeting at the Church School rooms on Wed- nesday evening, the 22nd. Everyone joined in the singing of the hymn 'A Song of Peace" followed by a scripture reading from Philippians 4, 4-9 and prayer by Gayle Denby. President, Mary Jean Till showed us a beauti- ful and very informative filmstrip about "United Missionary Work" in the far off country of Nepal, a most scenic land but still quite undeveloped by the Canadian standards of living. We joined in reading in unison I Corinthians 13, verses 1-13 and concluded the worship service by sing- ing 'Let There Be Peace On Earth" followed by repeating the UCW purpose together. In the absence of our secretary, B. Ward, Helen McKean read the minutes of the October meeting and the corres- pondence. A note of thanks for a donation to Port Perry Hospital was read and 13 members answered the roll call. President M.J. Till thanked members for lunch provided follow- ing the Sunday evening song service and reminded us of two catering dates - Nov- ember 16 following the Lindsay Presbytery meeting at Greenbank Church and a lunch to be provided for the county Holstein Club on Jan- uary 5th. An invitation from the Dorcas group of Port Perry UCW is extended to anyone wishing to go by bus to the new Cullen Craft and Garden Centre on Nov 17th - call M.J. Till or Barb Ward if interested. A motion was passed to give donations to the charities we help to support in the usual amounts each Nov- ember including the Fred Victor Mission, Street Haven, Victor Home for Girls, Alcohol and Drug Concerns, John Milton Society. The names of the officers to be installed for the coming year were read by the acting secretary, then the Mizpah Benediction repeated in unison. After enjoying lunch and tea together, we all joined in setting tables for the Ploughmans Banquet to be held the following night and catered by our UCW Group. All Shows: 7 P.M. Valerie Hundert proudly displayed the first copy of our own newspaper, the Brooklin Profile, and we are very pleased with the coverage given to our society. Carolyn Stevens then introduced the speaker who literally took us from the front door of a house to the back, with her beautiful designs and she aptly demonstrated how to produce these creations using evergreens, pine-cones, ribbons, etc. Mrs. Langford has had fifteen years of flower arrang- ing experience and is' quite at ease with her au- dience. She is not only a very gracious lady but a very talented one as well and she concluded her remarks by wishing us all "*A Very Merry Christmas." Betty Van Buuren thanked the speaker. Lyla Allan served a very appetizing lunch, assisted by Aldine Wick. AVAILABLE AT YOUR PETERBOROUGH LUMBER BUILDING CENTRES!
