November 15, 1983 Yea ?s Simmonds - Foster Beverly Ann Sim- monds and Charles Robert Foster were united in marriage in Ux- bridge Baptist Church on August 13, 1983. Rev. Charles Foster, father of the groom officiated at the ceremony, assisted by Rev. W. Nelson (Bud) Hooper of Unionville and Rev. Emmanuel Pierre of Montreal. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David S. Simmonds of Port Perry, the groom, the son of Rev. and Mrs. Charles Foster of Toronto. Preceding the bridal party was a choir of twenty-seven young peo- ple, friends, relatives and pupils of the bride and groom singing '"O Glorious Lord," written by the groom to the tune '"'Jerusalem"' from Chariots of Fire, and ac- companied by Richard Watson on the organ and trumpeter Ian Ar- chibald. The bride pro- cessed down the aisle to "Here Comes the Bride" played on the organ and the tubular chimes which were played by Sharon Wilson. Following their vows, Beverly and Robert sang a wedding duet "Cove- nant Love" which they both composed. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a Victorian style gown of French chantil- ly lace, with a chapel train. Her floor length veil was held in place by a caronet of white silk flowers. She carried a cascade of silk roses of white, pink and Victorian rose to compliment those of the attendants. The maid-of-honour was Jennifer Simmonds, sister of the bride, who wore a skirt of Victorian rose coloured taffeta, with a white high- collared blouse. She car- ried an arm bouquet of three full-bloom silk. roses in pink and Vic- torian rose. Also atten- ding the bridge were Janet Simmonds, sister of the bride, Janine and Judy Foster of London, Ontario, sisters of the groom, Mrs. Nancy Wallace of Waterloo and Mrs. Sheila Warne-Lang of Vancouver, longtime friends of the bride. The bridesmaids were dress- ed in white blouses, pink skirts and also carried full bloom roses. Stephanie Wilson of Ux- bridge was the flower girl, and wore a gown of Victorian rose. The groom's atten- dants wore smoke grey tuxedoes, with pink shirts and pink roses. Robert Godin of Quebec City was the best man. The ushers were Paul and Pierre Foster, of London and Toronto respectively, brothers of the groom, Don Sim- monds of Epsom, brother of the bride, Uriel Pierre and Rene Holtken of Montreal, friends of the groom. Paul-Robert Godin, son of the best man, acted as ring-bearer. Receiving the guests, the bride's mother wore a full length gown of Wedgewood blue. The groom's mother chose a dark blue full length gown. The Master of Ceremonies was Mr. Ron Montgomery, friend of the groom's family. The toast to-the bride was given by Mr. Lloyd Wilson, friend of the bride. Bev chose a deep rose suit with peplum jacket and a small white Princess Di hat with white feathers to go away. Rob wore a navy pin-striped suit. Guests were present from Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver and Florida as well as the local area. Following a honey- moon in the New England states, the newlyweds are now residing in Pickering. McArthur - Humphries Ruth Elizebeth Humphries, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Humphries, Kingston, Ontario and Brian George, son of Mr. George McArthur and the late Mrs. McArthur of Greenbank were married at 4:30 p.m. in the Morgan Memorial Chapel, Queen's Univer- sity, Kingston on Sat- urday, September 3, 1983. Rev. Dr. A.M. Laverty officiated. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attended by her sister, Jane Halliday of Toronto. The groom was attended by his brother Barry McArthur who came from Indonesia, specially for the wedding. Richard Hall- iday of Toronto was usher. A reception followed at the Faculty Club, Queen's Univer- sity. The honeymoon was in New England and New York City. The bride and groom will make their home in Calgary, Alberta. "oe Wallace - Abraham On Saturday, August 20, 1983, Port Perry United Church was the setting for the wedding of Sharon Ann Wallace and Terry Dean Abraham. Rev. Glen Jackson officiated at the ceremony. The bride is the youngest daughter of Donald and Marion Wallace, the groom is the second son of Ray- mond and Joyce Abra- ham; all of Seagrave. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a beautiful gown of chiffon over taffeta with flowing chapel train trimmed with lace. The sleeves were sheer chiffon with deep lace cuffs matching the victorian style neckline and delicate peplum waistline and satin sash. The gown's bodice was styled with a lace ruffle and scattered with tiny seed pearls. The chiffon and lace hat and veil complimented the ensemble. She carried a cascading bouquet of pink and white roses, baby's breath and lily of the valley with streaming white satin ribbons. Soloist for the occasion was Mr. Bert Hutcheon of Seagrave, personal friend of the "lace groom's family who sang "The Wedding Prayer" and "Perhaps Love". Bridesmaids were Londa Owen of Oshawa, Dawn Abraham of Sea- grave and Lynn Picard of Whitby. The matron _ of honour was the bride's sister, Donna McQuade of Whitby. The bride's attend- ants wore antique rose coloured dresses in crepe with chiffon over- blouses featuring peplum waistlines and victorian style necklines and ruffles. White chiffon covered hats with rose net blushers accented the gowns. They carried white lace fans with pink and white roses and baby's breath. Ushers were Scott Wallace of Seagrave, Dale McQuade of 'Whitby and Jeffery Abraham of Blackstock. The best man was Rick Van Weston of Scugog Island. The groomsmen were attired in Oxford grey tuxedos, victorian wing collared shirts and rose coloured bow ties and cummerbunds co- ordinated with the bridesmaid's gowns. The groom wore an Oxford grey morning suit with tails and grey pinstripe trousers, grey Bloeman - On Saturday, July 18, 1983, Matilda Johnanna Bloemen and Christopher Peter Dur- ward were united in mar- riage at the Immaculate Conception Church. Father O'Neill officiated at the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Jane Durward was the organist. } Tilly is the eldest daughter of Tony and Nera Bloemen and Chris is the oldest son of Lloyd and Donna Durward, all of Port Perry. Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a stunning full length gown of Georgette with applique lace inserts, flowing into a 3-tiered train. The high neckline and bodice was also trimmed with the apli- que lace and em- Durward broidered in seed pearls. A Juliet cap of lace and pearls held a three- quarter length double tiered veil. The bride carried a lovely bouquet of white gardenias mixed with pink sweetheart roses and lily-of-the-valley, ac- cented with green ivy and trimmed with bridal lace. Miss Debbie Filion of Whitby, friend of the bride was matron-of- honour. The bridesmaids were Astrid" Bloemen, sister of the bride, Hilda Linssen cousin of the bride. Marcie Redman, friend of the bride and Leslie Clark, friend of the bride, was the flower girl. The bridesmaids wore powder blue chiffon dresses and the flower girl wore a pink dress of the same style trimmed with lace. They carried nosegays of an assortment of blue and mauve cornflowers and blue and white daisies trimmed with bridal lace. The flower girl carried a small basket also of the same arrangement. Close friend of the groom, Murray Ar- chibald was best man. Ushers were John Bloemen, brother of the bride, Carl Durward, brother of the groom and Rodger Gould, friend of the groom, and Kevin Durward was the ring bearer. They were all at- edoes with white gardenia boutennieres. The reception was held at the Immaculate Con- ception Hall in Port Perry. Mr. Ronald Dur- ward great-uncle of the groom was Master of Ceremonies. The bride's mother greeted the guests in a full length gown of Perriwinkle assisted by the groom's mother also in a full length gown of lilac. Following the dinner and dancing the couple left for a honeymoon toa resort in Northern On- tario. They will reside at their new home in Port Perry. After honeymooning in the Caribbean in Saman, Dominican Republic, the couple returned to Oshawa where they now reside.
