2 i 4 Juvenile B's hope fo better record The Port Perry Juvenile "B's" sponsor- ed by Gregory's Mens Wear, got a bad start to their first game of the season. It was played Sunday, Nov. 13th in Lakefield. Port played well against the team considering they have had no real practices together. Lakefield got two quick goals but Port hung in there to tie it up. Both goals were scored by Steve Akerman and unassisted. Lakefield got a quick goal near the end of the first period. Port came back fight- ing and again tied it up. The goal was scored by Duane Stanly and assisted by Dave Tomp- kins. The: rest of the game was dominated by Lakefield who scored five more goals. In a last ditch effort Port skated up the ice and scored in the last eight seconds. The goal was scored by Lionel Deneckt and assisted by Brad Martin. Both Jon Waite and Mike Clarke played steady in goal despite giving up eight goals. During the game Port suffered sixteen minutes in penalties and Lakefield got away with only two. Last Thursday Greg- .ory's again faced off against Lakefield but this time they had the home ice advantage. Port got a slow start allowing Lakefield to get the first five goals. Close to the end of the second period Todd Soomre took a shot from the point and scored. The third period was a defensive battle. Each team had their chances before Lakefield broke the stalemate by getting a breakaway goal. A minute later Port's Rob Akerman passed the puck to Ian Porter who went in to score. Lake- field then burst out and scored two more goals. Port finally scored with 3:37 left to play. The Port Petites down Whitby On Saturday, Nov. 19, the Port Perry Bruton's IDA Petites hosted a Whitby team and beat them by a score of 7-2. Scoring for Port were Nicole Slack - 4, Misty Andrews - 2, and Denna Lovering with 1. Assists went to Amy Parlia- ment - 1, Kelly Menzies - 2, Lisa Levy - 1 and Lyndsay Dutkewich 1. All girls played well and all are improving their skating and passing skills. Next game for these girls is not until December 3rd at 5:30 when they host an Oshawa team. On Saturday, Nov. 19, the Port Perry Kinette Tweens hosted the Whitby team but were not fortunate enough to win. Jennifer Pelow from Kim Loudfoot, and Jessica Fluke unassist- ed were our scorers for the day. The girls play- ed well. We play our next game in Mississ- augaon Sat. Port played a tough match but were finally defeat- ed eight to three. During the game Port had twenty-one minutes in / penalties against Lake- field's six minutes. On Saturday, Gregory's Mens Wear played Little Britain. Both- teams gave it an all out effort but Little Britain came out vic- torious. The first period was scoreless but Little Britain got two quick ones in the second. Port Perry's Rob Akerman scored with a pass from Duane Stanley. Little Britain then scored a breakaway goal in the third period. With a one man advantage, Brad Martin passed to Steve Akerman who went in and scored. Little Britain then skated up the centre to score their fourth goal. Fifteen seconds later Duane Stanley scored. His goal was assisted by Jeff Wallace and Steve Akerman. The final goal of the game was scored by Little Britain with four minutes left to play. At the end of the game the score was five to three in favour of Little 'Britain. The penalties were fairly even with Little Britain receiving sixteen minutes and Port with fourteen. The Gregory's Mens Wear Juvenile Hockey club is coached by Joe Williams, managed by Scott Sandison and assisted by trainer Tim Thompson. Sportsland's Tim Kane gave Sportsland a 1-0 lead at the 9:56 of the first which was un- assisted. Sportsland took a 2-0 lead at the 5:26 mark as Bryan Norton scored from Tim Kane and Wayne Fox. With seconds remaing in the first, Tim Kane got his second of the day from Wayne Fox to give Sportsland a 3-0 advant- age. Sportsland scored one more late in the third when Tom Hunter scored from George Slade and Rod Jones.
