W What Christmas means . . . The Meaning Of Christmas To Me One cold night in Bethlehem, Christ was born and that is how Christmas began. Every Christmas, after Christ was born, people celebrated it by having turkey, plum pudding and many other delicious foods. On Christmas Eve, Santa leaves the North Pole to start his trip around the world to give gifts to all the good boys and girls. On Christmas Day people give gifts and receive them. . Itis a happy and joyous time, and people are laughing and singing carols at other people's front doors. Outside, the snow is falling and children are playing and people are having sleigh rides. There are people cross- country skiing and snowmobiling. It is lots of fun at Christmas. It is also a time to remember friends and relatives who live far away. Meredith Allin The Meaning Of Christmas Christmas means a lot to me because families and everyone get together. Like when my uncle comes, he plays with our toys and everything. Also, I like Christmas because you decorate the Christmas tree. I like to put the star on top of it. And I like putting the lights up outside. ) When Christmas comes, I like opening the presents and see what I got. My brothers enjoy it too, especially my little brothers. We always leave a little snack for Santa Claus usually a cookie and a drink. Some kids don't believe in Santa Claus but I do. That's what I think the meaning of Christmas is to me. Richard Brough Christmas These are some of the things I hear and see when Christmas is here. C is for Christ, a holy man H is for the Holly hanging in the doo R is for the bright red lights at the night I is for the indigo paper around the large gifts S is for the silence all around at night T is for the trimmings on the tree M is for the making of Christmas cookies A is for the animals around the baby S is for the singer at the door. Corinne Payne What Christmas Means To Me Christmas means that a cuphoard door is opened and out tumble all the sights and smells of Christmas. It means that . one cold day Father goes out into the woods, and comes back dragging a tree behind him. Then out come boxes with all the ornaments and decorations to be hung on the tree. When you go to sleep you can hear the soft murmur of voices quietly deciding what to give you for Christmas. Then! It is finally December 24th. The family sits around the tree and sing Christmas Carols. At 8.00 you hang your stockings and go to bed straining to hear small jingles of a bell that would tell of the arrival of Santa. " Megan Chellew The Meaning Of Christmas Some people think all Christmas is, is putting up a tree and giving gifts but it's not. A long time ago there went out a law from Caesar Augustus that the world should be taxed. So, Joseph and his wife Mary, who was being great with child had to leave and go to the City of David, into the Town of Bethlehem. g When they got there, there was no room for them in the Inn, so the Innkeeper offered them the barn and they accepted. That night, she delivered her first son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger. In the same country, shepherds were watching their sheep. The Angel of the Lord came upon them and said "Fear not, for, behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people, for unto you is born this day in the City of David, a Saviour which is Christ the Lord, and this shall be a sign unto you. Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swad- dling clothes lying in manger." Then a choir of angels started to sing "Glory to God on Highest, and on earth, Peace, Goodwill towards men." Also in another place, King Herod had sent three wisemen to tell him where Jesus was, so Herod could kill him, so Jesus would not become King. The shepherds went to find Jesus, so did the wisemen. The wisemen brought gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. : ) When the wisemen and shepherds got there, they prais- ed Jesus. Then the shepherds left to watch their sheep, and the wisemen took another way home, and did not tell King Herod. Tf So on Christmas, don't just think of presents, think of Jesus in a manger. ge Karen Wilson Xx ¥ x¥ the Cr Cheery GREETINGS Joy and laughter -- that's what we prescribe for friends and neighbors.
