At Nestleton United, with an excellent congregation Rev. Dale Davis' message was entitled '""Thé Humaness of Jesus" taken from passages of Scripture, Luke and Hebrews. Greeters at the door were Ralph and Leona Sadler. The choir sang "Trust and Obey" a love- ly old sacred number with Bernice Mairs and Regenia Walker taking a portion as a duet. Our capable organist- Gwen Malcolm. Next Sunday, Rev. An- drew Brndjar of the Canadian Bible Society will be the guest speaker. The Nestleton U.C.W. will meet at the home of Jean Williams, Tuesday, Feb. 14th at 2 pm. A good attendance is hoped for. The Caesarea Com- munity Church had a very good attendance with Rev. W.H. Crawford D.D. reading Bible passage John 3: 16, with the sermon theme- 'God Loves You." A children's story told by the minister was of interest, and also a children's hymn was sung, accompanied by Mrs. Crawford on the Hammond organ. Next Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Lions Club Sponsors Public Speaking Contest The Blackstock and District (Cartwright) Lions Club are sponsor- ing a public speaking contest on Feb. 15th at 8:00 p.m., when six students from Cart- wright Central Public School, Blackstock, will be entered- Grades 6-7 and 8, to be held at the Rec Centre. The contest is open to the public. Principal John Hinch and Lion Mike Dearborn- cor-ordinators of the event. Next week - again for fun and a social time. Social Notes Andy and Anne Cawker, Valerie, Andrea and Klane, Oshawa, were Saturday afternoon guests with Sam and Mabel Cawker, Scugog Point Road. During the week, Robert and Madeline Cawker, Scugog Island, visited at the farm. : Mr. and Mrs. Barry Malcolm of Simcoe, were overnight guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Malcolm and visited other relatives in the area. Blue Ray Chapter No. 238, 'Hosts' Grand Officers Night Commencing with a Pleasure of a bright day delicious "gourmet" din- ner at 5:30 p.m. with Worthy Matron Elsa Bongard extending a gracious welcome to the guests at the door, a great assembly of Grand Officers, Past Grands, Sisters and Brothers 'from other Chapters, and a fine number of Blue Ray members were on hand for the gala occa- sion -- a highlight in the life of the Chapter. During the dinner hour, a local artist added colour to the evening, as Rolf Pedersen- a profes- sional Violinist of Danish descent, delighted those present with his rendi- tions of many a favourite semi-classical number -- moving about the room from table to table as he performed on his instru- ment. A musical treat! The festivities were held in the Masonic Hall. Later, a brief meeting was conducted upstairs in the Temple, with Wor- thy Matron Elsa Bongard assisted by Worthy Patron Chris Dennis welcoming the many dignitaries to the East -- introductions by Conductress Marguerite Mitchell. Present were: Worthy Grand Matron Jo-Ann Coulter of Lively, and Worthy Grand Patron E. Keith Post of Port Dover and their corp of officers. D.D.G.N. Betty Dowden, Whitby, and many past District Deputies were present and welcomed as well. Past Grands- Mar- jorie Morgan and Brian Lee were welcomed. Life memberships were presented to P.M. Margaret Jeffrey and ~ P.P. Sam Cawker and Honourary memberships were presented to P.G.P. Brian Lee and wife P.M." Jean Lee, Whitby, also P.D.D.G.M. Erline Fin- nie of Scarborough. Under good of the Order, W.G.M. Jo-Ann Coulter and W.G.P., E. Keith Post spoke briefly. After Chapter closed, coffee, tea and light refreshments were serv- ed in the lower hall -- topped off with a lovely cake in honour of the Grand Officers visit. During this period W.M. Jean Simpson, Whitby, W.M. Eleanor Jones, Durham and D.D.G.M. Betty Dowden, Whitby, entertained with solos, duets, and Betty played the violin, much to the enjoyment of the guests. A talented trio with plen- ty of harmony. Quality music! One hundred guests were present from Grand Valley, Lively, Port Dover, Powassan, North Bay, Bright, Ot- tawa, Markham, Lind- say, Oshawa, Beeches, Colborne, Whitby, Pickering, Scarborough, Bowmanville and Blue Ray.
