1 Fresh from a very successful day of racing January 22 in Keswick, Stuart Houthuys of Port Perry is looking for a t performance as the snowmobile drag racers make a stop on class; a first in the AA Stock class; and a second in the Mod Stock "It was a really good day for me,' he told the Star last week. He pick- ed up about $150 in prize money and even came away with an extra $50 after a protest was lodged against him. When the protest proved to be un-founded Stuart was awarded the $50. He'll be racing his '76 Merc Snow Twister 440, a machine he says is still going strong after eight years. He keeps it in A-1 tune, constantly tinkering with it between heats and JUNIOR "C" HOCKEY SCUGOG ARENA - PORT PERRY spending hours making sure everything is just right during the week prior to the races. There are several reasons why Stuart is hoping (and confident) for a good performance at the drags in Port Perry Feb. 11 and 12. February 7, 1984 - Local racer hopes to change hometown luck season points total. He's off to a great start with the races in Keswick and would like to keep things going. : And he says, he always seems to have bad luck when racing in Port Perry, his home- town. Last example, his machine was hit with a broken frame just before the finals. So he's hoping for a change of luck in front year, for | of the hometown crowd. One of the competi- tors Stuart will be fac- ing is his father, Willy, who races a Polaris. Father and son will go head to head in one of the heats and there is always a chance they could meet in a final run over the one eighth mile track. The two days of races will take place on Kent's Bay, just to the north of Port Perry on Feb. 11 © and 12.
