eM in Tweens, parents in fun-filled game This game had a lot of emotional build-up prior to starting time. Phrases such as "We will cream you guys," or "You will not be any competition", were heard from the girls. Fortunately for the parents we had the assistance of three Belle aged girls - Jill Kendall, Lisa Canning and Kelly Storey who were repre- senting the Kinettes as they were unable to accept our Tween's challenge to play in this game. The parents started out to play a strong game, but as it pro- gressed, the girls start- ed to take over. They'll play a minimum of three games outdoors on the Rideau Canal and Dow's Lake ice surfaces. It should be a great experience for the Kinette Tweens CORL "B* squad from Port House League Hockey results ATOM UAW -1 Marj Tripp -0 With only 5 points separating UAW and Tripp and only 3 games left in the regular sche- dule, UAW had to win this one if they were going to have a shot at first place. It ended up as a defensive struggle with play going from end to end and goalies David Talbot and Brian Madill coming up big time after time. It re- mained scoreless until near the end of the second period when Jason McBride broke free for UAW and ripped a shot to the lower left corner that was too hot to handle. UAW now have a good run at catching Tripp if they can continue their hot streak through Feb- ruary. Swamp Garage - 5 Lake Scugog Lumber - 2 In a major upset Swamp completely overpowered Scugog 5-2 and showed that they will be heard from in the playoffs. Tuan Connel led the way with 2 goals and an assist, giving him 11 goals for the year. He was watched by Craig Leask, who played his best game of the season. Kevin Bushier added a single goal and Mark Shepp- ard contributed 2 assists. For Scugog, Brett. Puckrin again supplied the firepower notching his 20th and 21st goals of the season. PEE WEE ~W. Frank Real Estate - 6 Port Perry Lions - 2 Getting the teams on the ice, and then getting the game started on time was no problem. Its the hustle and runn- ing around looking for equipment and a set of sweaters to put on a team at that moment, With the team minus a goaltender for about six minutes, the Port Perry Lions were down 2-0 before Ryan Parliament came on the ice to tend goal. Then the Lions came back to tie the game after being down 2-0 on goals by Doug Adams 2 with assists going to Carr, Andrews and Griffin. Steve Diceman scored the lone goal in the first period for the Port Perry Lions with help from Haines. This all came about after some mad hustling to round up some equipment for the goalie, then the game settled down and the boys played some exciting hockey with Marvin Hughes scoring to tie the game at 2-2 in the second period on passes from Prentice and Cummins. Then the Land Sellers came alive in the third period with Chris Carr scoring three, and Doug Adams got his second goal with help from Mec- Connell, Andrews 2, Adams 2 and Griffin adding assists on Carr's goals. Final 6-2 W. Frank Real Estate. Wes Lane - 12 Scala Wreckers - 4 First period action came hot and fast for the Wes Lane boys, as they jumped off to an early 5-1 lead after one period of play. Scoring for the Wes Lane's were Daniel Muldoon with two, Mike butt, Pat Muldoon and Peter Brock all with one each. Adam Danter got the lone goal for Scalas. BANTAM Consumers Gas - 1 LG.A.-0 Defense is your best offense - our offense is your best defense, right. That just about sums up the play when Con- sumers Gas and IGA get together in a game. They just go out and lock horns in battle and struggle for everything they can get, and some- times no ground is gain- ed. This was another one of those lock horns type games, and as per above nothing was gain- ed Only Consumers Gas with Greg Free scoring on a scramble in front of the goal, no help here. In the third period IGA seemed to out play the Gas Works more so in the third period but couldn't beat Mike Enzie. Early in the game the Consumers had an edge in play, but with Rick King coming up hot also. There was many chances at each end, but both goaltend- ers came up hot handed, and many chances came heart-broken. Final Consumers 10 over IGA. Cochrane Trotters - 13 Emmerson's Ins. - 4 There was no doubt in anyone's mind as to who was boss in this game, as Cochrane Trotters ran up a 13-4 score over the Emmerson's Insurance team. After playing an outstanding game last week, this will not sit well when Emmersons meet their next opposition next week. Taking this defeat was one thing but to let the Trotters skate at will was something else. Mike Stanley started the ball rolling, scoring first with Crone assisting. Tony Haynes came right back scoring his first of two, Collins and Brown added assists. lan Smith got Emmer- sons back in the game on his first goal of three, Criscione picked up the assist. First period over 2-1 Cochranes. Only one goal was scored in the second period, that by Cary Collins from Mark Elliott. Second period over with Cochrane leading 3-1. In the third period, it was a rout all the way, starting things off was Haynes getting his second, Stanley assisting, then it was Jeff Crone's day hitting on six goals, while Collins added two more, along with Mike Stanley goals, that did it for Cochranes. Smith scored his other two, along with Mike Brock"s goal was all the Re- writes could get for the day - Jackman Joe got the lone assist for Emmersons. Mark Elliott with 4, Crone 1, and McBride 2 all added assists for the Trotters.
