Swamp jumped into an early lead when Chris McLeod knocked in the rebound of a Richie Stapleton shot. It stayed that way until the second period when Mike Olaisen dazzled the crowd with an un- assisted rink length dash. That was the end of the scoring as goalies Craig Leask and David Talbot came up big time after time. They receiv- ed a lot of help from their defence especially Joel Shryburt for Swamp, and Jeff Brett for Tripp. Swamp now takes a 3-1 lead in points into next Saturday's 3rd game. PEE WEE Wes Lane - 11 Lions Club -3 It was quite obvious in Saturday's 1st game that the Lane boys showed up to play hockey. Unfortunately for the Lions Club, this defeat put them out of playoff contention for this year. The Lions just couldn't get on track Video Rental and with the Lane team as hot as they were, the task just seemed too much. Scoring for Lane's - Scott White - 5 goals, 1 assist; Paul Turner 4 goals, 1 assist; Vince Criscione 1 goal, 2 assists; and Herb Hatch 1 goal and 1 assist. For the Lions Club - Adam Cummings 1 goal, 1 assist; Steve diceman 1 goal, 1 assist; Marvin Hughes - 1 goal and Mike Haines with an assist. Congratulations to both teams and don't forget Lions Club, you still have 2 weeks of hockey left. W.Frank-3 Scala Bros. - 2 - In a more closely con- tested 2nd game, W. Frank came up with a 3-2 win to knock Scala Bros. out of further playoff competition. Try as they might, Scala just couldn't buy big or steal a goal in the last 5 minutes. What hurt even worse, they played the last 4 minutes with a 2 man advantage. On the other hand, Franks should be complimented for their excellent penalty killing. As mentioned in the above game, congrat- ulations to both teams, and remember Scala Bros., you still have two weeks of hockey left. Scoring for Franks, Chris Carr with a pair, John Andrews 1 goal, 1 assist and Doug Adam with 1 assist. For Scala it was Ed Toffin with 1 goal, 1 assist; Paul Kett 1 goal and Shawn Phillips 1 assist. Emmersons Ins -3 Consumers Gas - 1 Like lemons rolling around on a table, the Emmerson Insurance team had a season, up and down, one week in third place - but back in the basement. But these kids wouldn't quit for anyone and they showed just what they could do. "It's fabulous" said Paul, "yeah, it's great'. Series '"'B" came to a quick end to a good sea- son for Consumers Gas as they were shot down two games to none. Now Emmersons must wait for a week before they pursue their goal in the final. The Gas Works open- ed the scoring early in the second period, after both teams played a hectic skating game in the first, some great scoring chances went astray. But a good period to boot. Lionel Deknecht open- ed the game on passes between him and Shep- stone but David Irvine came back with three minutes left in the second period, scoring, Steve McTavish and Joe Jackman assisting, as the first, it was hectic also. Then at the half way mark in the third Jason Bertrand scored after passing between Taylor and Orr. With less than two minutes to play Ian Smith scored to put it out of reach for Con- sumers with Grosvenor and Irvine picking up assists. You can't say enough for the way these boys, who put out some top competative hockey. You don't like to see them lose - but then againyou hate to see it end.
