Balloons blast off this week If you happen to look up on Thursday after- noon and see the sky filled with brightly coloured balloons, you will be seeing R.H. Cornish's Balloon Blast off to launch the 3rd annual Fun Fair. Students at R.H. Cor- * nish P.S. will be sending the balloons aloft at 1:30, with their name iS A A ee a PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed. May 23, 1984 -- 15 and address attached on a tag in the hopes of having the tag returned from some far away place. If so, the location will be pinpointed on a map set up at the school to indicate where the balloons were found. In the case of bad weather, this event will be held on " Friday, May 25. The actual Fun Fair will be held on Sat- urday May 26 from 10:00 am. - 2:00 p.m. Many new features have been added this year, includ- ing a cake walk game, an obstacle course, bingo and a used book and magazine sale. A special attraction will be the magic of Stu Garland with perform- ances at 11:00, 12:00 and That's some hat Scugog Mayor Jerry Taylor was presented with a couple of small gifts last week (a hat and fishing pole) to help publicize the up-coming $30,000 Bass Derby which will be held on Lake Scugog June 30. The Derby is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and that's president Bill Barr on the left and director Tom Mitchell. That slogan on the hat, by the way, says "Kiss My Bass." Grand prize in the derby is $30,000. Entries are available at many stores in Port Perry and Chamber of Commerce members. 1:15. The school's gym will be transformed into a fun-filled games room. The kids can try for a gold fish or test their skills at the many games by trying to knock Humpty Dumpty off his wall or feeding the hungry Cookie Mon- ster with bean bag cookies. It's win a prize every time and tickets are still just twenty-five cents. After the excitement of the games room the kids can take it easy and watch one of the films in the Movie Room or play a game of Bingo. Indian Brave faces and headbands will be featured in the Face Painting Room this year or the children can chose a clown face of any colour and design they like. To the dismay . of many R.H. Cornish staff members and the de- light of many students, there will again be Dunk the Teacher. Here's hoping for warm weather. A free colouring con- test will be available in the library. Parents can leave the little ones to colour and relax with a coffee and something from the Bake Table and then pick up some treats to take home. Hot dogs, cold drinks and ice cream will also be for sale. Parents from R.H. Cornish are asked to give a helping hand to the Parent Teacher Association by donating some baking and used books and magazines. Donations can be dropp- ed off in the school foyer on Friday, May 25 or Saturday morning Come join us and take your chances at winning a yummy cake, see a movie, turn yourself into an Indian Brave, try your luck at all the. games and don't miss the magical excitement of Stu Garland.
