a a a 22 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 26, 1984 Juniors on track On Thursday June 14, the Canadian Tire Juniors hosted Ux- bridge Auto Wreckers and came out on top by the score of 54. Christie Wilbur, Healey, Taylor, Van Camp and Fran- ssen all picked up single hits. Jeffery went the distance in striking out 6 while pitching a strong game. On Tuesday June 19, the Juniors hosted the strong Zephyr squad but came out 5-3 winners. Wilbur picked up the win in going the dis- tance. He also had 3 hits of which 2 were triples. Minor softball Trembley also had a triple among one of his 2 hits. Christie and Johnstone both picked up singles. On Thursday, June 21, Canadian Tire travelled to Uxbridge to play the River Valley team and struggled to a 6-6 tie. Sore armed Wilbur again went the distance striking out 8. Our team put out their best per- formances at the plate pounding out 12 hits. Taylor, Harman, Fran- ssen and Johnstone all picked up singles. Christie had 2 hits while Wilbur and Trembley On Monday night in Nestleton, the Port Perry Kinsmen defeat- ed Breezy Acres Farms. For the Kinsmen, Terry Parks had a grandslam homer, with home runs by Steve Lahay and Kendall Chorostecki. Doubles were hit by Michelle Morton and Art Schryburt. Good pitching by Chris Bea- cock and Kendall Choro- stecki saw seven strike outs between them. Good outfield plays were made by Dana Campbell, Kirk Swain and David Walker. For Breezy Acre Farms, Jim Brown, Christie Cordon and April Moore hit doubles. Cliff Pelrine hit a homerun. In Caesarea, Lish- mans beat Don Frew 13-8. For Lishmans, Chris Bryant hit two homeruns, with singles by Todd Moore and Lindsay Duthewich. Good fielding was done by Alicia Bentley. For Don Frew, Cory Wilson and Craig Rowntree, each got a triple and a single and both caught line drives. Tanya Mappin hit a double and a single with a single by Erin Hassee. This was a well-played game and was tied until Lishmans had last bat. In Blackstock, Thompsons beat Cart- wright Juniors. In the intermediate division, Cheryl's TNT's topped Brenda's Esso. Bryce Green got a home run for Brenda's with a line drive by Marvin Hughes. For Cheryl's TNT's, Billy Allan hit a homerun and a triple by Tyler James. Turner's Green Giants played P&B Lawn Ornaments and won with a score of 12-7. For the Giants, Allan Reed pitched a steady game and stole home once. Homeruns were hit by Glenn White and Danielle Millson. There was good support from the infield. P&B manag- ed home runs by Ron Vokins and Shannon Steiner. Jeff Bedome hit a triple. The boys are finally starting to put every- "thing together and play good baseball and are in the race for a playoff spot. This Tuesday night they host the Mount Albert Mounties at 8:30. Also the Juniors are holding a 50-50 draw this summer and the draw will take place before the final game of the annual Canadian Tire Tournament on August 6th. Tickets will be sold all summer long and are available from any team member. Cartwright results wright Select team beat the Legion (All-Star Squirts 14-3). This was an excellently played game with home runs by Keith Roberge and Greg Stapleton. Kevin Gibson and Mike Harnes got triples with double plays by Mike Haines and Adam Cummings. Darryl Leatherdale and Danny Man did some excellent pitching. The Blackstock Lions defeated Blackstock Video 20-19. The Lions had homeruns by Glen McDowell and Scott White with 2 triples by Sean Miller. Tom Parker made a good flyball catch, with good outs made by Sean Miller and Derek Chase.
