On' Saturday morning, despite the cold and sometimes wet weather, both young and. the not so young turned out to remove the old shingles from the Utica Hall and put on the new, all within a period of 8 hours. A job well done fellas. During the week another group of people, mostly from the Epsom area, were busy sanding floors in the Utica United Church and 5 Year Annual Interest applying urethane which is a great improvement already over the old painted floor. The UCW has ordered carpeting which will be installed after the painting is completed. On Saturday morning at 10:45 there will be a parade starting on the county road west of the village and con-' tinuing through Epsom and to the school. There will be sports, races etc. Custom vans Saturday was the grand opening for Kustom Kar and Van operated by Mike Adam (left) with employee Brian Jarvis. The shop and retail outlet on Regional Road 8, west of Port Perry, will specialize in customizing vans and cars with all the trim and accessories. Mike worked for 10 years in the same business with his father at Van World in Oshawa. beginning at 1:30 p.m. which will be followed by a baseball game. Please bring lawn chairs to this event. Refreshments will be sold by the Sunday School. This will be followed by the beef barbecue supper at the Epsom Church (advance tickets only) and a program will be held indoors. On Sunday the Church service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Epsom with Dr. Bill McKay as speaker and special music by the Simmonds family. I still have tickets available by phoning 985-7564 or call Don Asling at 852- 6607 (for the barbecue). There will be a euchre in the hall on Friday at 8 p.m. Winners at last weeks euchre were Ladies 1st K. Crosier, 2nd Rosetta Evans and low to Verna Draper. Mens 1st George Harper, 2nd Caroline Haugh and low to Iva Yake. Freeze-out winners were Jean Beach and Ken Clark with Ann Bowman and Daisy Sellers second. Mrs. Stan Noort of Coquitlam, B.C. who has been visiting her - parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Philips for two weeks, called on Mrs. Crosier on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meyers of Scarborough called on their niece, Mrs. Wm. Brown on Saturday. Several ladies from the village attended a bridal shower for Miss Bev. Miller at the home of Mrs. Jack Geer in Port Perry on Thursday evening. Senior Citizens Club by Marion King On July 27, Senior Citizens Club 101 held their final meeting of the year, with a lovely pot-luck supper and a musical programme, put on by the pupils from Whitby and Port Perry Studio of Music. This was a very de- lightful performance and extremely well- done. Win Philp and Edna Beckett were éach presented with a lovely cup and saucer for their faithful work through the year. Next meeting will be in September. Have a good summer.
