August 8, 1984 -- 19 Cartwright Minor Softball Leagues Junior playoffs underway now For the Junior Divi- sion, the Port Perry Kinsmen defeated Thompson's Village Market. For the Kinsmen, Kirk Swain brought in four runs with a Grand Slam homer. Triples were hit by Terry Parks (2), Kendall Chorostecki and Art Schryburt, with double being batted in by Michelle Morton, Chris Beacock and Steven LeHaye. Good catches were made by Kendall Chorostecki and Kirk Swain with a double pa- ly by Terry Parks. For Thompson's, home runs were hit by Jason Cliff +2) and Mark Simmons. Kevin Ellis hit 2 triples, . got 2 runs in and had a terrific catch as back catcher. Runs were also scored by Darren Leach, Mike Leach, Donnie Cliff (2), Catherine Ellis, Robyn Cliff and Steven Mairs. In Nestleton, Don Frew and Sons beat the Cartwright Juniors, with Cory Wilson and Craig [Rowntrees each batting in two home runs for Frew. For the Juniors, doubles were hit by Jeff Short and Jennifer Ar- buckle. Andy Mackie hit a single, and two singles were hit by Jennifer Arbuckle. Semi-finals will be played this week bet- ween the 1st and 3rd place teams and the se- cona and fourth place teams, with the winners of these games battling it out for the championship next week. For the Intermediate Division, P&B lawn or; naments beat Turner's Green Giants 24-20. Exuberance is part of the daily routine and in learning these skills, the kids regularily send balls flying into the ball park and lake.
