yr nae SF SE T-_------Y _A TET Tee 22 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tues. August 28, 1984 yports Before a large crowd on Sunday night, Port Perry Legion hosted Sutton Irish House in the first game of the 0.A.S.A. intermediate 'C' Zone finals and were thoroughly trounced 9-2. © Sutton's pitcher Al Heintzman was in total control of the game as his selection of pitchers continued to keep Port off balance all night. The game went along smoothly until the top of the 4th inning when with one out Gord Stevens tripled to left field, Heintzman was inten- tionally walked and Mike Carnivol greeted a John Annis offering with a long homerun to deep left-center. Things got worse instead of better. The next inning 2 more Sutton hits followed by passed balls allowed the margin to go to 5-0 for Sutton. Additional runs in the 6th and 7th innings upped the score to 9-0. In the bottom of the 9th inning Port finally scored when they bunched together 4 hits, scoring 2 runs. Port's safeties were produced by Grant Jackson with 2 and singles going to Colin Wackett, Rob Evans, Dave Dickson, Jay Williams and Bill Bridge. Starting pitcher John Annis took the loss going 7 innings before being relieved by Tim Thomp- son. Harry has been swinging the clubs for 30 years when finally, on August 5, he aced the 150 yard sixth at Pine Ridge, using a six iron. It was a real thrill," the ten handicapper said later, and he wound up with a nifty 74 for the round. Witnesses to the event were Bert Suddard and Giles Goulding. - BS ingall, Richard Miller, Mark Dale, Irv Gib- son.
